WalpinGate

As to the deaths of Foster and Brown, he said that had he been allowed to do so by Congress, he would have investigated those matters and included them in the impeachment trial. :)

To hell with the three investigations into this matter (Park Police and FBI, Fiske, Starr). The investigators clearly were Democratic operatives.

To hell with the three investigations into this matter (Park Police and FBI, Fiske, Starr).

Three investigations that the legal expert Starr hired to lead his investigation (his name was Miquel Rodriguez) said were basically one investigation (because they all relied on the FBI).

Three investigations that the legal expert Starr hired to lead his investigation said were a sham ... a coverup of what really happened.

Lurker, you've made no attempt to actually debate the facts in that case on Foster threads so don't pretend you know anything about it or are willing to debate it. You aren't.

And since Fostergate isn't the topic of this thread so don't try to do so here. Go do that on a Foster thread ... if you dare. But you won't.

Yeah, I will stick with the official investigation's findings instead of the "what if"s of the tinfoil hat crowd.

Says the man who believes Clinton murdered a man in a plane crash.

Why don't you want to discuss the facts in that case, UW? I'll be happy to do that with you on one of the many Ron Brown threads that exist. Or are you just like Lurker ... just trying to dishonestly use my concerns about that and other cases to discredit the facts and concerns I've outlines in WalpinGate? Don't you see the logical fallacy in that tactic? :D

You are correct, BAC, and I apologize. Just because you are nutty on some topics does not invalidate your claims on this thread. I'll go back through the thread again and try to follow the trail better, ok?

EDITORIAL: Walpin-gate reopens

Republican senators ought to place an open and immediate hold upon the nomination of Jon A. Hatfield as inspector general of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). The legislative hold is necessary not to question Mr. Hatfield's fitness for the job, but to insist that the job itself should not yet be deemed open. The former inspector general (IG), the improperly dismissed Gerald Walpin, filed a motion in court May 20 to force a judge to stop ignoring his lawsuit for reinstatement. Until he receives his day in court, no replacement should be confirmed.

President Obama dismissed the widely respected Mr. Walpin on June 11, 2009, shortly after Mr. Walpin issued two reports highly embarrassing to political allies of the president. Despite a legal requirement that presidents provide 30 days' notice to remove any IG and provide an explanation for the dismissal, Mr. Obama originally did neither. When the White House belatedly offered some reasons, they were rife with errors, inconsistencies and a few outright falsehoods.

On July 17, Mr. Walpin filed a federal lawsuit demanding reinstatement. Since then, Judge Richard W. Roberts of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia has sat on motion after motion, countermotion after countermotion, without lifting a finger to move the case along. In so doing, he has ignored specific time limits contained in the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. He also has played into the hands of the Obama administration, which has used every possible stalling tactic to keep the case buried and its merits unexamined. The goal, which is highly improper, seems to be to render Mr. Walpin's case moot by putting Mr. Hatfield in his place.

Drysdale,

Hope and change, new era of transparency.

So true... It's hard to believe that in these modern times (especially post Bush) people aren't a bit more skeptical about the promises and claims of politicians running for high office.

Upchurch,

Or the Bush Administration, with their political firings?

Correct!

Without a radical shift in either the political mechanisms or the culture of the electorate there will not be much room for a radical shift in the type of politician that can achieve the Presidential office. Obama was not my first choice for a variety of reasons, I looked at it more as a step in the correct direction even if I was dissastified where the politics currently stood even after that step. In my mind the same people who put Bush in office put Obama in office. Its changing poltical culture of the center where the real change needs to happen.

LOL! That speaks volumes about your mind. :D

So you disagree with me on the importance of political harvesting of the center for Presidential election? In my opinion while there can be clearly conservative and liberal presidents by and large the nature of needing to win a majority of the voters creates a centralizing pressure upon the office.

And with BlackPantherGate in the news, let's not forget another recent gross miscarriage of justice by Obama's DOJ:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/jun/16/walpin-gate-swings-wide-open/

On June 11, 2009, President Obama fired Mr. Walpin without explanation to Congress despite having co-sponsored a law as senator that required such an explanation before an inspector general could be dismissed. The most public dispute between the administration and Mr. Walpin involved the IG's efforts to sanction Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson … snip … for a series of ethical and financial improprieties in Mr. Johnson's use of AmeriCorps grants.

On June 9, 2010, The Washington Times broke the story that AmeriCorps' parent, Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), ignored its own sanctions against Mr. Johnson for infractions admitted by the mayor by featuring him in an honored speaking slot at the upcoming National Conference on Volunteering and Service June 28 through 30 in New York. By June 11 - the anniversary of the firing - CNCS executives made a series of frantic phone calls that resulted in Mr. Johnson being scrubbed from the list of speakers and removed from the website. … snip …

On the same day Mr. Johnson withdrew as a speaker, Mr. Walpin filed a final summation in a federal appeals court explaining why the court should order expedited action on his lawsuit. Even though he filed suit on July 17, and even though his suit is time sensitive because the administration already has nominated a would-be replacement, Judge Richard W. Roberts of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia has sat on numerous motions and countermotions for expedited judgment, thus stalling the case.

'Walpingate' case buried

Holder-friendly judge rules only Congress can hold Obama accountable

June 21, 2010

… snip …

U.S. District Judge Richard Roberts late last week dismissed Walpin's case, reasoning that the Inspector General Reform Act – a bill co-sponsored by then-Sen. Obama to keep inspectors general free from presidential political interference – gives Walpin no legal recourse for getting his job back, even if the president did fire him illegally.

… snip …

Several commentators have expressed outrage over the decision and pointed to ties between the White House and Judge Roberts, who Walpin had previously accused of stalling his case and, thus, doing the White House a convenient favor.

In 1993, after working as an assistant U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C., Roberts was appointed by then–U.S. Attorney Eric Holder to second-in-command of the office. Holder now serves as the U.S. attorney general, while a Department of Justice lawyer has served as lead defense attorney in the Walpin lawsuit.

Roberts, a graduate of Vassar College, earlier this year introduced Holder at a campus lecture there, pondering, "What could I share about what I know of his life's spicy moments?" before assuring the attorney general, "It's OK. … I've got your back."

Of course, in this case the victim (Walpin) was white and the perpetrators (Johnston, Obama and Holder) were black. More evidence of racism?

Obama is black? I thought he was half black half white? Why does everyone ignore that he is half white?

Again, From Salon:
Aside from its ferocious pursuit of lawsuits against affirmative action, the Center for Individual Rights, where Walpin served as director for many years, has displayed an enduring attraction to academic racism, or at least to its practitioners. That attraction led CIR to represent both Michael Levin, the notorious racist professor at the City University of New York, and Linda Gottfredson, an obscure University of Delaware professor whose negative research on African-Americans has made her a heroine to racial extremists. To finance this kind of litigation, CIR accepted thousands of dollars from the Pioneer Fund, a foundation dedicated to proving that blacks are racially inferior to whites and Asians -- in short, the intellectual equivalent of the KKK.

For that reason and many others, Walpin didn't fit very well within the Obama administration. He served at the pleasure of the president, who may well have taken some pleasure in ousting him -- and need make no apology if he did.

Not in the least, but I can understand why a black man would not want an open racist in his administration. Can't you?

Good point.

"One drop rule." (The slightest amount of "black blood" & you're black.) Silly I know, but it seems to be a habit tba Americans don't want to kick.

Why should I be impressed by your logic? Because Obama's Presidential and Senate campaigns, which he *directed*, accepted thousands (if not hundreds of thousands or even millions) of dollars from self proclaimed communists and communist organizations ... yet folks on the left said that's irrelevant to what Obama believes. :D

Oh I take the issue very seriously, lr. Otherwise, I wouldn't have raised it and said I think it's serious. Can't you tell that from the content of my posts?

Right, because when I'm serious about something the first thing I do is run to an entity that is completely impotent when it comes to affecting policy change. Then I proceed to spend an abnormal amount of time there accusing everyone of being too partisan to agree with me, just to show them how serious I am. And, of course, I have to point out that everyone else is losing -- because pointing out that people are wrong on the internet is the surest way to get the change that I want.

I'm also in agreement with everyone else here that adding "gate" onto every political scandal is getting old about twenty years too old and incredibly immature. The meme is dead, let it rot.

And before you respond, this is not a "I disagree with you, BAC". This is a "for the love of GOD stop acting like a petulant manchild, BAC". Keep that in mind before you respond with: "LOL! I see you don't want to face the facts either KF!:D:D:D"
