Indeed. A VP position might interfere with a George P run for President in 2016.

2020 would still be practical.
I can see absolutely nothing about "P" that makes him a good candidate for any office, much less at the top. What does he offer besides a familiar last name?

Well, there's that time that he was arrested for breaking into his ex-girlfriend's house... How much you want to bet something like that didn't happen just once?

Here's the current betting on the veepstakes:

1. Rob Portman 17.4%
2. Marco Rubio 16.0%
3. Chris Christie 10.0%
4. Mitch Daniels 8.5%
5. Bob McDonnell 6.3%
6. Tim Pawlenty 5.4%
7. Paul Ryan 4.5%
8. John Thune 3.5%
9. Kelly Ayotte (top woman in the betting) 3.2%
10. (tie) Condoleeza Rice 2.5%, Bobby Jindal 2.5%

Rice is not a bad pick. Helps on foreign policy where Mitt has zip. But another "elite"? Not good.

Oh, she's better than not bad. I think she's the one game-changer on the list. If Romney wants to kick it into high gear, she's his man.

On Morning Joe this morning, they were talking like R. Portman is a done deal for this thing.

A Romney insider says they are looking for an “incredibly boring white guy.”

Har, har, that's funny.

Rob Portman. Still leading the pack at Intrade:

1. Rob Portman 20.8%
2. Marco Rubio 16.5%
3. Chris Christie 9.0%
4. Mitch Daniels 7.8%
5. Bob McDonnell 6.6%
6. Tim Pawlenty 5.5%
7. Condoleeza Rice 5.2%
8. Paul Ryan 4.5%
9. John Thune 3.1%
10. Bobby Jindal 3.0%

“Incredibly boring white guy.” I think maybe he's following Obama's strategy for picking a veep, although I think it made more political sense for Obama to choose an “incredibly boring white guy” as a signal that he's not so radical and scary or anti-white male. For Romney it just enhances the stereotype that he's an “incredibly boring white guy.”

At last! I can strike someone from the list. T. Pawlenty says he's taking his hat out of the ring.
