My dad seems to have gotten a doozy on his computer. Something called 24/7 PC Health or somesuch.

I've tried getting it off with Malwarebytes but when it restarted windows went black with just a stupid little icon down in the corner for 24/7.

I got it up in safemode now and am running Malwarebytes again on a full scan. I hope this will work better.

Did you run rkill before running Malwarebytes? You might have to do that to stop its processes so that it can be removed.

No, I didn't think of that. But I think I got it by running Malwarebytes in safe mode.

They acknowledge that the steps are cumbersome, but this was the best information I could find.

Does anyone know JRT? Bleeping Computer mentions it often. I've managed to avoid all those farkin' toolbars and crap so don't really need it, but with neophyte users (like your Dad... like, soon, my own son and wife since we got Marcello a computer for Christmas) they wind up loading all sorts of crap every time.
