The Venezuelan government Tuesday ordered the expulsion of Israel's ambassador to Caracas to protest the Israeli military's deadly offensive in the Gaza Strip, the foreign ministry said.

But no word about Hamas rockets :(

What do you think about such Protests.

I miss the Balance, i think its OK to send the Ambassador home, but atleast a few words against Hamas would atleast a little bit balance the whole story.

Seems like Chavez has that familiar problem of separating Jews from Zionists as well..

Chavez earlier condemned the Israelis carrying out the military campaign as "murderers" and urged Jews in Venezuela to take a stand against the Israeli government.

"Now I hope that the Venezuelan Jewish community speaks out against this barbarism. Do it. Don't you strongly reject all acts of persecution?" Chavez said.

Good. The USA should also expel the Israeli ambassador until the killing stops.

With Venezuela's economy going down the toilet why not use the Jews as as a scapegoat?

And what of the Hamas, who have been firing rockets into Israeli cities since 2001? Is israel supposed to sit back and take it?

How many Venezuelan Banks needed a bail out?

There might be another reason behind the expeling of Cohen. The Venezuelan Government suspect him of taking part in the coup against Chavez in 2002.
but they didnt find evidence, only against the US ambassador who had to leave a while ago already.
I guess they used the moment to send him home out of protest but also because he was part of the coup.

The economy isnt doing that bad in Venezuela.

I actually see no problem with that. I think its good when Jews go on the street and protest it.
The Israeli goverment claims to be the State for the Jews. So i think it would be a strong message when jews protest, like they did already in Teheran for example.

I see a problem that he never asked Palestinians in Venezuela to protest Hamas actions.

Same guy that compared Israel to Hitler while accepting an award in Iran. Not surprising.

The state of Israel does not claim to represent all Jews. The actions of Israel have nothing to do with Jews in Venezuela. They only act in the name of Israeli citizens, not Jews, and most Jews are not and never have been Israeli citizens.

Your second point appears to readdress the imbalance, but I think it misses the point. Hamas do not represent all Palestinians either, they have spent the last few years fighting other Palestinians (Fatah) who disagree with them.

Neither group should have to demonstrate on the basis of their ethnicity. Especially not against the actions of countries that do not represent them.

ok im not sure if the state israel claims it, but i saw Israel as what most jews see as the promised land, whish i understood as the land that God promised to the jews.

I dont say they have to, but like i welcomed the protests of Islamic groups against terrorism, especially terrorism in the name of Islam or Allah. I also like to see more protests from Palestinians against Hamas. I think its a much stronger message.

Just because you are Jewish by ethnicity it does not mean you believe Israel is the promised land. Not every Jew believes in God, or reads the Torah. Being Jewish is not the same as being religious.

In addition, there are plenty of Palestinians that oppose Hamas. Hamas was busy throwing those folk off buildings when it took over Gaza. That is why we don't need Palestinians in Venezuela to "prove" they are against terrorism. Nobody would assume they all think the same.

Of course, if anything is done in your name and you object to it then you should make a stance against it. Just as American people made a stance against the Iraq war being carried out in their name. The war in Gaza has absolutely nothing to do with Jews or Palestinians living in Venezuela.

Chavez appears to think simple mindedly about a lot of things. Hence his popularity with some folk.

Of course, any Jew who refuses to protest can expect a trial as a "spy for the Zionist entity" by Ahmadenijad's thugs within a week. But hey, that doesn't stop some people from taking the Iranian Jews' protest at face value, I guess. After all, it's a protest against Israel, and they are all holy and good.

Wasn't Chavez going on about the people who killed christ a while ago

Yes, he was. Of course, he probably meant the "Zionists" killed Christ, you know.

i guess also Australia forced the Jews to protest

I'm pretty sure he did and I think he explained that he was talking about bankers or capitalists. I don't have a reference for it which is why I phrased it as a question.

Yeah, he did..

The world has enough for all. But it turned out that some minorities, descendants of those who crucified Christ, descendants of those who threw Bolivar out of here and also crucified him in their own way in Santa Marta, there in Colombia, a minority took the world’s riches for themselves.
