Vegetarianism versus Veganism versus Meat Eating

I've only brought up my own experiences. I have no interest whatsoever in continuing a generalized "are vegetarians preachy?" debate, nor do I even consider preachiness to necessarily be a bad thing (depending on how you define the term). Have fun.

You probably should have just read the first post I made then and not get caught up in the derail. This is almost exactly what I said.

If one wants to be preachy, fine. Just have the basic decency to admit it.

All I said was "Listen, you're going to come off preachy when you're talking about what people shouldn't be doing. You're going to come really preachy if you start talking about murder. Dems da brakes"

Which prompted 5 pages of preaching about how not preachy they are.

When I am criticized for my diet, it usually is not in a "I love meat; I love trying new things; you should try new things with me!" manner. It is one of the following:

a. Rolled eyes and snort
b. Blanket statements that vegetarians cannot possibly get enough nutrients/vitamins/protein/what have you
c. "You're an idiot and probably a hippie"
d. "Your diet is an imposition/affront to me personally."
e. No comment, but a refusal to accommodate even when it would be easy
f. No comment, but an attempt to trick me

Yep. I told similar stories earlier in the thread.

The other day at work someone looked at my plate & noticed I was eating something w/o meat. Not tofurky or anything "weird", just a bean and cheese burrito. Who pays attention to what others eat, let alone scrutinizes the inside of other people's burritos?

Then he asked if I was a "psycho vegetarian". I am really surprised this is still considered socially acceptable behavior. So socially acceptable, apparently, that a worker feels free to disparage an executive in his company about it--unprovoked, while the subject has not even been brought up in conversation.
