I disagree with that premise. There are some people who have had a "nice place" before they were incarcerated, and where did they end up? Truer words have never been spoken. At age 63 I have known very priviledged people who were very vile and evil tempered. You could send them to paradise for many years and they would still cut your throat when they were released. Van Der Sloot is a good example of this. So was Ted Bundy.

What? I asked a question to those that believe he murdered her. Since her body was never found, there is no way to know. What I did find was that Joran claimed she died of a seizure and that he threw her body into the ocean. However, he is a pathological liar, so I take what he says with a grain of salt. I think that because he murdered Stephanie with a tennis racquet, it escalates the probability of him having murdered Natalee. Did Natalee even have a history of seizures?

Personally, I'd like punishments to be almost clinical. As other posters have pointed out, isolation and incarceration is already almost unbearable to a human being.

I'm guessing he gave her a date rape drug when she was extremely drunk, she died, and he disposed of her body somehow, maybe by tossing her in the water so the tide carried her out.

I agree. People assume it's because "even criminals have some morality" and can't stand people who would molest children. The reality is just that it's another excuse to commit acts of violence and to prey on those weaker than themselves.
