An unclassified summary of outed CIA officer Valerie Plame's employment history at the spy agency, disclosed for the first time today in a court filing by Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, indicates that Plame was "covert" when her name became public in July 2003.

People like Mary Matalin, Victoria Toensing, et al surely knew this as they went on the talk show circuits. Matalin was personally involved in the whole affair when she talked directly to Lewis Libby about how to handle Joe Wilson. It strains credulity to think she wasn't aware of Plame's status, yet the truth was simply an afterthought for her.

Anyway, that stupid debate is over. The truth is now declassified.

From the article:
The nature of Plame's CIA employment never came up in Libby's perjury and obstruction of justice trial.

This looks like grounds for a whole nother investigation then.

I wasn't aware that this was in doubt. I thought Armitage confirmed it, through error, much to his chagrin. (Or, on purpose, depends on what you believe his angle was in the whole thing.)

I am thinking this is coming out now that Libby's sentencing, or appeal, is due in a week or two.

So now the charge of treason becomes a definite possibility in this play.

Not covert

Like every other word in any other language, the n-word is a string of letters combined to make a particular sound, which is associated with a specific meaning.

This is not an attempt to minimize the importance, value and impact of words or language, and that goes double for this three-letter adverb. However, what makes this word so controversial is neither the combination nor number of letters. It is the current devastating history of actions and impacts associated with this particular adverb.

Reclaiming specific words such as this can serve as a form of resistance against the dominant culture's use of the language. This, too, goes for Robert Novak's use of the language. And, especially, my wife Laura's use of the language

Like when she says: "George, you cringing, pathetic, binge-vomiting invertebrate". From now on, only I get to use that.

:)

Now, when do we (as a country) get to go after MC Rove for the most serious of security violations (and in time of war too) this country has seen in several decades?

Some time to save the village...it must be burned.

Some time to save the President's policies from being exposed as being founded on bad information and a web of contradictions and mistatements, otherwise covert government agents must be burned.

Same principal. Patriotism is a bitch.

Prez Bush: Like every other word in any other language, the n-word is a string of letters combined to make a particular sound, which is associated with a specific meaning.

And which n-word are you talking about exactly? NOC?

When the Novak column ran, Valerie Wilson was in the process of changing her clandestine status from NOC to official cover, as she prepared for a new job in personnel management. Her aim, she told colleagues, was to put in time as an administrator--to rise up a notch or two--and then return to secret operations. But with her cover blown, she could never be undercover again.

I don't follow your reasoning. How is that relevant to patriotism?

Patriotism is a bitch because poor Dick Cheney and Scooter Libby HAD to expose/sacrifice this CIA agent in the name of the higher purpose they served...protecting the mis-information that was used to justify the President's policies. I'm sure they felt bad about it...I mean what leader wouldn't feel bad about tossing a soldier overboard...but here, the needs of the bigger picture meant that the law, honesty, valor, morality had to be sacrificed for what on the one hand seemed like a smarmy political pay-back manouver, but what in reality was a higher, nobler political purpose.

I'm just hope the Vice President didn't suffer much because his hand was forced in this awful situation.

Substitute "personal loyalty" for "patriotism" and it fits perfeclty.

As it is, your post is a lovely bit of sarcasm, lightly toasted, best served with Earl Gray Tea and coated in farm made raspberry jam.

Well, yes, that would be headscratcher4's point. They are showing loyalty to a person or organization, namely the Bush administration, when they should be loyal to the country.
You know that, and I know that, but perhaps not all lurkers do. ;)

The who?

**looks off-stage for the first time, notices the audience**

oh. nevermind. :boxedin:
What, you didn't get your percentage of gate receipts? I got enough for two cups of coffee.

I suspect the TLA Dictator is to blame, skimming your share from the till. Watch your wallet, man, the fingers around here are light and dextrous.

Unabogie: Told ya.

Damn. And was going to chide you for hitting me with the ad hom. No one calls me an "optimist" and gets away with it!

P.S. I did qualify the debate as "stupid", so technically I was right. The debate is no longer stupid and has now veered into "delusional".

You mean there´s a difference between the two? Saying something bad (especially if it´s true) about the president is NOT high treason? To be patriotic it is NOT required to fanatically believe that everything coming out of the White House (under a Republican president) is the Word Of God?

Oh, boy... that´s going to take some time to digest...

;)
