Um yes. I don't think a vendetta is a great platform for any candidate.

On the other hand, it worked for President Trump.
He was pissed that President Obama told jokes about him at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
President Trump’s platform basically amounted to “I’m here to undo everything that Obama did.”

OK, yeah, there was a second plank: “I hate the same people you hate.”

Running on the platform of settling a personal score does not exactly communicate, "I will represent you and your interests in Washington".
