Vaccine/autism CT discussion

Are we absolutely sure he isn't a stooge trying to discredit anti-vaxxers?

:D

I'm not sure about the "discredit anti-vaxxers" part.
I'm pretty sure of the "stooge" part, however.

How's that link between MMR vaccines an autism coming along, Clayton? Do you need help in understanding how a discussion works? Just ask us.

Clayton never revisits his mistakes. That's why he never revisits anything. He just ploughs on to his next mistake.

It is true that Clayton never admits to his mistakes, no matter how obvious or trivial. However, in my humble opinion, Clayton always revisits his mistakes, although it takes time. He first changes the subject, or lies low for awhile, and when he thinks the coast is clear, recycles the previously discredited post with no attempt to address the debunking he received the first time. I predict we will see the measles is safe post again, and the childhood diseases are no worry post again, and the absence of controlled vaccine studies post again, etc.

What we will not see is any evidence that vaccinations cause autism.

I've already posted this in the February stundie thread but as an insight into the mindset of the anti- vaxxer it bears repetition. It's from Age of Autism and it's an extract from a comment made by a contributor to an article about activism.

"No-one will be surprised how full-on I am .
I believe in hitting the issue head-on & at high speed. "

Was she posting from a rubber room?

How precious and here is another from him in the same comment:
I have told all my friends and family of my beliefs (of course they all doubt my sanity) .
I can't imagine why.

Clayton never revisits his mistakes. That's why he never revisits anything. He just ploughs on to his next mistake.

Which eventually leads to him making the same mistakes, over and over, no matter how many times he's been shown to be objectively wrong. He literally cannot understand or accept anything that disagrees with him.

"Did I ever tell you the definition of autism? It's when gobbets of vaccine get into your intestinal tract., and then parents report signs of autism." (NSFW)

The sad part is that people believe the medical community when they say vaccines are safe but that same medical community says they can't figure out, after 40 plus years, what happens to 1 1/2 year old toddlers all over the world that causes their autism. The same medical community still hasn't figured out what caused Gulf War Syndrome.

It's like they never heard of evolution and think they can tinker with the human body by stimulating immune systems multiple times by injecting foreign substances.

When was the last time you or anyone caught the measles through their arm or leg?

I'll bet if you dug up the results of 60 to 100 year old reflex tests todays fully vaccinated children would lag behind significantly.

So then, what's your proof that vaccines cause autism?

WTF is this nonsense supposed to mean?

Premise 1: The medical community does not know everything about the cause of autism.

Premise 2: Evolution.

Premise 3: Vaccines are made outside the body, then put in the body.

Premise 4: The respiratory route is the most common route for measles infection.

Conclusion: Vaccines cause autism.

This is not a good argument.

Non-sequiteur. There's still no cure for AIDS either.

It's like they never heard of evolution
What?

and think they can tinker with the human body
It's not "tinkering". There are standards and practices to follow, as well as trials and that whole "scientific method" you seem not to prefer over just "thinking" about things. Also; ME AM PLAY GODS!

by stimulating immune systems multiple times by injecting foreign substances.
Which is pretty much what the immune system does anyway. In fact, the first smallpox vaccines were based on natural cowpox infections people got, after scientists noticed their resistance to smallpox. There was another vaccine based on horse pox, when the British Army realized that cavalry were more resistant to smallpox than infantry.

When was the last time you or anyone caught the measles through their arm or leg?
I dunno. Would you care to cite some actual studies?

I'll bet if you dug up the results of 60 to 100 year old reflex tests todays fully vaccinated children would lag behind significantly.
I'll bet you just made up that fact and have nothing to support it, and are ranging further and further afield from your claim about the link between vaccines and autism in order to win any kind of points in the debate whatsoever.

Hey, look, I'm right! What do I win?

Every one of your supposed responses have nothing to do with what I said.

There's still no cure for AIDS either. But they know what causes AIDS.

They know what causes measles, too, but there's no cure for that either. But we can prevent it by vaccination, saving many lives every year.

Which is indeed wonderful progress, especially because it offers the promise of one day developing a vaccine against AIDS. Unfortunately due to the nature of HIV, that will be much more difficult than the vaccine against measles.

Correlation doesn't equal causation, CM. Anyway, signs of autism are there before 1 1/2 years of age, they just aren't as obvious. Plus children with autism are born that way, they don't 'catch it' from anything after they're born.

Absurd. How could genetic predispositions to autism begin concurrently and accelerate across oceans and infiltrate family genes?

ahahahha The point was it didn't take over 40 years to figure out what was causing AIDS.
