Moderated Using wrong pronouns= violence??

You don’t agree that speech is not violence. You called a threat of violence ‘violent speech’. You’ve already contradicted the proposition you’re trying to ge

You’re in no position to tut your tongue about it.

I thought about the issue and I now agree with the article in Psychology Today. Words and speech are never an act of violence. Ever. They can threaten violence, they can be terrible harassment, they can be a criminal threat and criminal harassment. But they are not and should never be treated as equal to violence.

There are several municipalities that have made it an offense that can come with very heavy fines if you intentionally misgender someone.

That is the beginning. Especially now that we have snowflakes claiming that such statements are in fact an act of violence.

Yo were asked to link this. Can you do that?

Best to just not use third person pronouns talk about other people. Easy to do as other people are not that interesting anyway.

Yes, just avoid all pronouns all together. Just refer to people by their name. That way no one can accuse you of violence.

New York City for one will issue hefty fines against landlords who repeatedly use the wrong pronouns.

I believe SF does this too

No, they don't.

No, free speech does have its limits. Just like freedom of the press.
Blank has generously pointed out to you -- at least twice -- that there is no policy involved. Your failure to acknowledge this fact, after you bleated about policy ad nauseum, is highly unimpressive.

We will see if this becomes official policy, and if mere offensive statements become treated as actual acts of violence.

Actually NYC does indeed have a policy of fining landlords if they intentionally and repeatedly use the wrong pronouns to describe their tenants.

That is part of the anti-discrimination laws. It would have to be part of continued harassment. Read the examples. They aren't just one-off incidents. It has to be international and directed.

Or should landlords be allowed to harass tenants?

Can you site even a single fine assigned from this bill? Issued 2002 so 21 year old policy apparently so would have some fines caused by it if it does what you claim it does (or it isn't really relevant)

Or maybe its just hats off to NYC - the city with the politest and nicest bunch of people that side of the Atlantic that never insult/harass or abuse minorities.

Man, the far righties would like really hate that, wouldn't they? All their neo Nazi and white supremacist rhetoric would suddenly become a real problem for them, wouldn't it?

These threads where OP finds some obscure thing written somewhere, intentionally misinterprets and stretches it to the extreme and then pearl clutches about it is getting old.

We get it, you don't like trans people and everytime someone says something or you read something about how disliking trans people is bad you're afraid that your dislike is going to get you in trouble socially, legally, or physically.

There is a simple 2 step solution.

1. Recognize they are just people, like anyone else.
2. Don't be an ******* and intentionally antagonize people.

If you do that, you don't have to worry about it anymore.

As I said I have found the perfect solution to this problem. Simply refer to a transgender person by their name. Not any pronouns. Problem solved.

I don't think that solves the problem from their perspective; at least not if you freely use pronouns for cisgender people.
