[sarcasm] The evil US imperialsts are torturing Iraqi prisoners by playing the theme tune to 'Sesame Street' over and over again!
Oh the humanity!!!!
[/sarcasm]

Amnesty International told BBC News Online that at least one Iraqi captive - a civilian, later released - had reported being kept awake for up to four days by loud music.

"This is an issue that seriously concerns us. If there is a prolonged period of sleep deprivation, it could well be considered torture," said a spokeswoman.

Evil American Imperialists!!! why cant you just be like good old Saddam Hussein and pull out their toenails!!!

At least they didn't play " It's A Small World After All "..

Or maybe they did, and that is what the uproar is all about.

Hehe they do that over here in the subway entrances to clear the punks out. Cheap ass synthetized classical music. Yech!

I heard that when Iraqi prisoners won't cooperate, US interrogators often have to "take it to the next level" by dropping in a Bolton CD.

Sergeant Mark Hadsell, of Psy Ops, told Newsweek magazine: "These people haven't heard heavy metal.

"They can't take it. If you play it for 24 hours, your brain and body functions start to slide, your train of thought slows down and your will is broken. That's when we come in and talk to them."

"In training, they forced me to listen to the Barney "I Love You" song for 45 minutes. I never want to go through that again," one US operative told the magazine.

Back in the late '50's there was a song that had the refrane: "Itsy bitsy yellow polka dot bakini".
Is this against some International Law or something?
I listened to it and I am relatively OK. Maybe...

Why does that karaoke joint next door always cue up Tiny Bubbles by Don Ho just as I'm falling asleep?

Naaaah. You're brain's been shot for years!:p

So the Gestapo put you in a puddle of water and electrocuted you...just a bit of a buzz. And the North Vietnamese beat you with a fan belt.... just some welts. But 24 hours of Barney? That'll do some real damage.

Surly, that has to be a crime against humanity. ;)

And for the real tough cases, the US will deliver the worst.

YOKO ONO!!!!!!!

I'd confess to anything if they played her music for 24 hours straight.

Now that's a violation of the Geneva Convention!

I've heard that playing Yoko Ono, Michael Bolton and Yanni in succession can cause irreversable seizures.

Make fun of it all you like... but answer me this:
How exactly is causing prolonged sleep deprivation not torture?

Its a violation of international law................Barney is supposedto get royalties dammit!!!

Seriously though, at what point does psycho tourture fall under human rights violations.

I don't think the loud music itself was the issue, four day sleep deprivation was.

I believe Yoko Ono is covered under other agreements. I'm fairly certain she's been listed as a weapon of mass destruction.
