US Justice System..........does anyone like it??

Pretty much any legal system you can think of is going to fall short of some person’s idea of “justice”. People have different ideas about what is an appropriate punishment for something, juries are made of people who all have different ideas, and people at any and every stage of the process can make mistakes.

Sorry.

Well your opinion carries more weight since you deal more with a system. However, are you for, against or indifferent toward the death penalty?
I see it only as a tool of vengeance. It doesn't really help anyone even if you're killing the right guy. There is also a myth that has been promulgated since the days of the flood that it somehow works as a deterrent. This is simply not true. In fact, you'll find the real situation is to quite the contrary if you examine the statistics, so it may even be argued that the death penalty is detrimental to society even beyond just those wrongly convicted of murder and their loved ones.

Well it bothers me when our adminstration tries every trick in the book to keep people out of the justice system.
But that's not being bothered by the justice system, it is being bothered by the administration.

I am very pleased to see that when/if the administration 'tries the tricks', the SCOTUS regulary finds against them. IMHO the US has a supreme court to be proud of.

That doesn't guarantee not being convicted of it.

True, but I do have some money saved up so I can just buy myself a jury. See it all works out.

And if buying a jury is a crime ...:)

It is?! Hmm, I guess I'll just buy myself a good lawyer then who can brainwash a jury...I wonder if Jonny still practice criminal law.

I like our judicial system but the reason I like it is because it can have some corrections and still operate.

The adversarial system has it's problems, in that the State's Attorney has a lot of power, and because we don't have magistrates, some cases that should go to court never do.

I don't feel that the court is biased against poor people, I feel that it is biased in favor of people who are middle class and can afford lawyers.

But compared to other systems it is a blessing..

Wanting improvements in a system is not the same as condemning the system.

Yeah, right the right wants to toughen the system until thier little Johnnie is in the docket. Then 'victims rights'go the way of the passenger pigieon.
