US "Czars" Officially Jump The Shark

He finally sea eeled the deal and appointed a carp czar, but he didn't just do it for the halibut. The midwest needed some kelp, and they said they had a deep porpoise. After much sole searching, Obama consulted the sturgeon general, and then piked Goss for the post.

I'm tempted to nominate this...

Of all the stupid czar names I ever saw, this one takes the cake: White House names Asian carp czar.
Like all of these, "czar" is a media name. It's not even listed yet on the White House site yet so let's see what his title really is. Whatever it may be, he'll be coordinating various federal and state efforts. What the media calls him is not worth your boner, WildCat.

I was actually going to ask if anyone knew what the actual title of the position was. I think the idea was this media meme has jumped the shark, not so much the White House chose a stupid name for a person tasked with overseeing an environmental project.

Ok, here it is..."Coordinated Response Commander for Asian Carp".

Now if you abbreviate that, it comes out as CRCAC, which is surprisingly very similar to CZAR. They both have a C, R, and an A, and in Russian, I think two CC's can equal one Z... so there you have it, the Carp Czar.

He will be working with the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), a department established by that liberal RINO Nixon.

I'm a representative for my company in the PacNW. So, I'm the "(company name deleted) czar."

I think they should use the title "Coordinated Response Advocate Person" for many of these positions, then distinguish between them by putting a brief notation with their title. This one could be the Carp CRAP, as opposed to the Drugs CRAP, or the Housing CRAP.

I hope to one day help out the government by being highly paid Monkey CRAP. I think the voters would see the value in that.

Does this imply there is an Uncoordinated Response Commander for Asian Carp?

Is his assistant the Coordinated Response Sub-Commander for Asian Carp?

Does he report to the Coordinated Response Overlord for Invasive Fish?

They can get in line with the gobys, alewives, zebra mussels, lampreys, steelhead, smelt, coho, chinook, common carp (not native to North America), and whatever other invasive species are already in the Great Lakes. It's been a long, long time since the Great Lakes were free of invasive species, I don't see why the Asian carp will suddenly ruin everything.

At any rate, this thread is mostly about the media's insistence of calling every department head a "czar". It's not like he can use his royal power to order the damned things back to China.

I approve of this post.

Excellent point. The bummer is, we put several of these invasive critters (salmon and steelhead in particular) in there on purpose, and we continue doing it to this day.

And as it turns out those 2 species are also reproducing naturally in the Great Lakes, something deemed impossible by the people who put them in there to eat the alewives... maybe we need some bull sharks to eat the salmon? :boggled:

I hope the Justice Dept. investigates this flagrant racial profiling.
