UN suspends aid to Gaza

Here is a New York Times article on eyewitness reliability in relation to aircraft accidents, I would say it is just as relevant in relation to incidents like the UN truck shooting and many of the other tragic incidents that has taken place during this war so far:
Ideas & Trends; For Air Crash Detectives, Seeing Isn't Believing

Not to mention pretty much any witness in that part of the world can be presumed to have a healthy bias against one side or the other.

I think their interest in OPSEC probably outweighs their interest in having the war accurately covered.

In the 2006 war in Lebanon it was horrible:
Throughout the conflict we have pretty good access to soldiers, generals and ministers - all extremely keen to put Israel’s case to the international media. By and large we’ve been allowed to go wherever we want on the Israeli side of the border. We’ve often driven straight into Israeli bases right next to the frontline - in the middle of battle preparations - and nobody has kicked us out.
BBC: Middle East restrictions?

In addition to restricting the press they have tightened up on all levels:
Hence, the sobriety, the seriousness, that is pervading Israel today. Soldiers are no longer allowed to use their cell phones to call Mommy and Daddy from the battlefield. And the parents--while tense and waiting for news from their children--seem understanding. They know that the war-management-by cell-phones of 2006 should have been stopped. Cabinet ministers go on the airwaves and refuse to say what they think about the daily happenings--this is time for unity, not for debate, they say. In stark contrast to the Lebanon war in 2006, they are taking pride in keeping secrets--as if reminding the public that mistakes of the past should not be repeated.

You also can't infer it is being used as a troop carrier, if they were using it to take a wounded man to the hospital for treatment, they were using it as an ambulance.

That wasn't what was shown in the video I have seen previously.

Well, you said "The useful idiots at the UN and here will continue to toe the Hamas party line. " What part of this quote do you see as the UN toeing the Hamas party line? They seem to have accepted the Israeli explanation without question.
Has the UN retracted their claim that it was an IDF tank that fired on the truck?

If the IDF was intereseted in getting the facts out, they may want to let foreign reporters into Gaza.
Like the ones who gullibly reported as fact every lie Hezbollah's propaganda arm fed them in Lebanon in 2006?

No, I only provided information on what Israel has done since the last war, and voiced my opinion that the OPSEC was horrible when journalists could drive straight into military bases.
Besides that, UNIFIL was reporting Israeli troop movements on a publicly accessible web site.

As predicted you jumped on that fact.

But, maybe some of them left the ambulance again outside the cameras view. You failed to surprise me with your comment.
Which if true means the ambulance was acting as a troop transport, and the UN lied about the actual events by omitting that fact.

The UN has qute a history of misrepresenting the facts when it comes to Israel-Palestinian fighting. Always in favor of the Palestinians.

So? That is acting as a troop carrier.

For armed fighters to get into the ambulance is wrong; irrespective of whether they then travel in the ambulance or get out before it moves.

It is worse if they don't travel with the injured fighter all the way to the hospital because that is using an ambulance to transport fighters.

Now, either the UN doesn't have access to the same video we have or the video we have is of a different event or the UN is not being entirely honest about what happened.

Either way, the fighters' actions can not be excused and people should remember this incident and others the next time they want to complain about Israel holding up ambulances at border crossings.

Please keep posts on topic, and especially, do not transport squabbles from other threads.
