UN Panel: Gaza flotilla attack = war crime.

when it is so holy land, god should come back and take care of the mess he caused with allegedly promising it to some people.

Israelis "making extra bucks" from the sex slave trade. Aren't they awful?...

Nice cherry picking.

Speaking of cherry picking, JonathanS, here's one you left behind earlier.

How much have you heard on CNN about Israel's growing, one billion dollar, sex slave trade ?

Speaking of crimes against humanity, I bet none of you heard about the growing sex slave trade Palestinians are Palestinians are making extra bucks from these days. My brother is in the IDF and he and his squad caught several cars driven by Palestinians with girls bound and gagged in the back, soaking in their own excrement. It's a growing trend and almost every other car in the vicinity of the Palestinian territory and Egyptian crossing is checked for this reason. You won't hear about this stuff from CNN.

In fact, CNN doesn't really report anything bad the Palestinians do within the territories that isn't directly related to Israel or "the conflict". They are perpetual "victims". Weapons smuggling, trafficking girls, money laundering, drugs.. you don't hear about any of this stuff and none of it seems to matter as long as Israel is "occupying" them.

Talk about getting away with murder...

This is a copy/paste job because if I had to explain it in my own words, you'd get a headache ;):

maybe you should reconsider your choice of source....

The foreign policy of the United States, as largely influenced by the New World Order, has for several years, clearly and consistently favored Islam over our own national interests.

Point them out and I'll explain them to you.

Israel accused over 'cruel' Gaza blockade
Report calls for end to embargo, saying easing agreed by Israel six months ago has done little to improve plight of Gaza civilians

"Gaza's 1.5 million people are still suffering from a shortage of construction materials, a ban on exports and severe restrictions on movement six months after Israel agreed to ease its blockade on the territory, according to a report from 21 international organisations.

The loosening of the embargo has done little to improve the plight of Gaza's civilians, according to the coalition, which includes Amnesty, Oxfam, Save the Children, Christian Aid and Medical Aid for Palestinians. It calls for fresh international action to persuade Israel to unconditionally lift the blockade.

Israel agreed to ease its restrictions on goods and materials allowed into Gaza following its attack on a flotilla of aid boats in May, in which nine Turkish activists were killed. ...

And of course, the plight of Gazans has nothing at all to do with their electing a genocidal terrorist group as their government.

No. Apparently Israel has to continue buy Gazan produce in addition to allowing exporting of Gazan strawberries, flowers, etc. (oh wait, Israel does this already) via Israel's land entry points so that Hamas can make a percentage from the profits in order to purchase weaponry from abroad.

Somewhere in international law, that's a requirement.

To ease the embargo, the Rafah crossing can be upgraded to allow the free-flow of goods via Egypt. If this were to happen security would have to be drastically increased since both Hamas and Egyptians bedoins would lose out on their black market trade.

All in all, goods permitted in, ease of restrictions and increased number of truckloads entering Gaza has increased significantly. But it'll never be enough for these sensationalist NGO's.

Three posts ago you seemed to be saying that weapons smuggling, trafficking girls, money laundering and drugs (hardly activities confined to Gaza) disqualified Palestinians from their "victim" status. A growing (according to you and your brother) sex slave trade suggests deteriorating economic and social structures. This is what one would expect to result from economic warfare and the destruction of social and physical infrastructure.

(You reap what you sow! ;))

It's interesting that awful things done by Palestinians you put back on Israelis for creating the situation where those things happen, but it never occurs to you that actions taken by the Israelis might be the result of situations created by Palestinians. With that kind of reasoning nothing Israel does will ever be good enough for you and nothing Palestinians do could ever bring your condemnation.

Which is awful, but nobody tries to blame it on anyone other than Israelis. Israelis who run such operations are criminals, and the state that fails to shut them down is lacking. Unlike you, who wants to divert responsibility from Palestinian criminals who run their own sex-slave trade and the Palestinian government that profits from it are somehow not responsible for it.

It's also interesting to note that if someone were to respond to a criticism of Israel by pointing out similar or worse failings of Palestinians, you would be the first to be saying that the bad deeds of the one don't diminish the failings of the other, but here you are doing the exact same thing.

It seems to me, looking at this conflict from afar without much interest in either side, that over the last 60 years or so Israel has done a great deal of work to try and turn itself into a proper nation state.

It likewise appears that the Palestinian territories have done nothing to try and turn themselves in a proper nation state or states.

I wonder why that is?

Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention says:

"No general penalty, pecuniary or otherwise, shall be inflicted upon the population on account of the acts of individuals for which they can not be regarded as jointly and severally responsible".

That is a prohibition on collective punishment, not a prohibition against blockade. If the logic is that anything that one nation does to another that has any negative impact on the population is regarded as a war crime because it is collective punishment, does that mean that any country that imposes tariffs has committed a 'war crime' against the exporting nation? I guess the US Federal Reserve printing dollars (and devaluing the dollars held by citizens of other nations) must, by that logic, also be a 'war crime'.

It's got nothing to do with "unrestricted access to any particular area during war time".

You're right. It doesn't.
