UK - Election 2015

Another who failed in reading comprehension.

Easy tiger.

Could you please point out how you think my reading comprehension has failed?

I think that's an impressive trick when I've simply quoted from the manifesto.

If you can show me any way in which I've intepreted that at all and, further, show how my intepretation is in error, then I will review that for you.

If you can't, then I'd quite like an apology for your leaping to long conclusions in a single bound.

Ha ha ha ha ha. That's not me that's blind or ignorant here. This election was never about another referendum. Straight from the horses mouth. If that's not good enough for you then I can't help you. The first sentence was the heading of that section and explains that this wasn't about it. Jeeper creepers. It wasn't what their priorities were. They were in my other post

If we have a sweeping win in the Scottish assembly election next time it may come back on the agenda but too soon and we risk everything. SNP did not get 50% of the vote by pushing the 2nd referendum agenda.

I (almost) never agree with this poster, and utterly repudiate the tone of some posts ("blind or ignorant", "reading comprehension failure")..........but he is right on this matter.

Turnout was 85% for the referendum vs. 71% for this election. Some people who don't normally vote in mere parliamentary elections clearly thought the referendum was important enough to vote.

And to add to that good point. Many more were eligible to vote in the UK election. I couldn't vote in the Referendum. As a lot of ex pats couldn't.

And how's all that going to work out now that the Tories have a majority and can tell the SNP to suck it? SNP were banking on being in a coalition, now they have nothing.
You think they'd be better off with six Scottish seats in Westminster than with fifty-six Scottish seats in Westminster?

That 71% is UK wide, not Scottish, isn't it? It's possible the turnout there was significantly higher or lower.

I'm just grouchy because I have another Tory PM. Maybe one day my manners will improve!

That whole section in the manifesto (that you didn't post in full) is about not pushing for a referendum but pushing for the fulfilment of the promises made after the No vote. The section heading is then followed by the stance on it for this election. The only ones who made this about Indy2 vote was the unionists and it looks like some here have been suckered

So, no apology or admission that you made an unwarranted leap.

I was pretty much backing you up. If I was being selective I wouldn't have included the bit that says:

"but that is not what this election is about. It is about making Scotland stronger. "

But if you're so hung up on thinking that everyone disagrees with you despite what they actually say. Or, rather, doin't say, then you carry on chap.

Apologies. From the flow of the posts it seemed you were arguing with me. I can send you a used I love Nicola badge in recompense?

No. I want a new one. :D

As an aside, I think the seperation of the union would be disastrous all round. I also think that, of all the prominent parties in the election, the SNP are closest to my own political philosophy. Go figure. :)

One of the most bizarre claims I saw today was on BBC. A UKIP moron was trying to blame the SNP for their failure. The actual claim was along the lines hat they wanted to vote for UKIP but didn't want to take the chance that "those people" got in

They are not bigot or racists at all are they?

Well I am not the only one thinking this through, even if you aren't. This from the BBC News site among many others) at:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2015-32651603

"For the SNP, their stunning victory can only increase the pressure on Nicola Sturgeon to include a commitment to a second independence referendum in her party's manifesto for next year's Scottish elections".

Yeah, but that's the BBC intepretation of the situation. Not a statement from any part of the SNP.

I am amused by all the Lefties who claim to be in favor of the people, but when the people don't vote the way they like call the people a bunch of idiots . And I don't like the obvious implication:The people are too stupid to govern themsleves and need a revolutionary elite to tell them what to do.

Except that it exactly represents what Sturgeon herself said earlier today in a BBC interview.

The Holyrood elections are next year. The first thing on the agenda is the fulfillment of the "Vow", to deliver devo-max, which should happen this year.
