??? The article clearly says the Senate Majority.

Interesting that Reid chose to double cross the Republicans who initially voted in favor of the act, and then tried to prevent them from amending the bill.

It's hardly surprising that House Speaker Boner wants to pay for the expense of emergency unemployment benefits by delaying implementation of the ACA by one year.

All this reminds me of a Doonesbury strip in which a doctor is a bout to perform a heart transplant, using the heart of a liberal. Some of his advisors worry that the liberal heart might bleed. They suggest the doctor use a conservative's heart instead, to which the doctor sarcastically replies, "Oh yeah? And where am I supposed to get a donor?"

How is it a double cross when all he did was insist that the bill pass as written when they agreed to it?!

If you followed the story:

The Senate agreed to extend the benefits (but not before Mitch McConnell got some TP points by pretending to block it because... Obamascare!) with Republian agreement.... who then said, "Whoopsy... but there's no way to finance this. We want to see financing."

Reid and Co. then found magic pixie dust money like all Congress and Senate Critters do. And the GOP are miffed that they weren't consulted about where to get the funding. Why? Where might THEY have found a program to take money from? Gee, I wonder.

Reid then said, "Look, Billy-Clem! You said find the funding, not find the funding by taking it away from one of your pet hates. There will be no discussion. This is an emergency and we're putting it to a vote."

"Will the Senator yield the floor for the junior Senator from Texas?"
"In your dreams, Mary-Margaret!"

So it will go back to the House. Big B has already wagged his tongue in the direction of the "No vote if you don't UnObamacare us." It worked so well for them in the shutdown; let's see if they're stupid enough to try it again. It's just an emergency program for the 47% who are takers, so they may well try.

So, as jj said,.... stay tuned. The benefits have already expired. But the GOP doesn't care. They've never met an unemployed person they like, anyway.

For once I partially agree with you, it's double-crossing all around from all sides.

That they resulted from an attempt at extortion you won't agree with, we already know, but that's how it went down.

Nobody looks good here. McConnell looks awful. Reid looks merely very stinky.
 
If "Unemployment Insurance" was really insurance, it would be paid for by the policy premiums. As it is for the initial periods.

Beyond that it is "Welfare for the able bodied", funded by the government. And should be re-considered as required, as in these hard times.
