Not only is it ugly (IMHO) and impractical, but one of the first things we're told when deployed overseas is "be inconspicious, don't flaunt it around that you're an American", and what do we do but build the most flamboyant Embassy in the city, something no terrorist could miss (take a left on 25th, Abdul and look for the wedge."

Unfortunately, yes. For a start, Dubai is building an almost identical one, but taller.

Also, a building proposed in Dubai is the Dynamic Tower, where actually every floor rotates independently around a central shaft, at different speeds. For pics, check out, for example, http://unusual-architecture.com/rotating-tower-dubai-uae/

And while at least some of the versions that are just a little wavy, may look ok, check out the rightmost version, which looks like a jumbled mess.

ETA: oh, right, and if the noise and vibration of spinning the building itself aren't keeping you up at night, it will have wind turbines fitted on every floor too.

I would suggest the biggest problem with that building is that it hasn't been maintained. I suspect it looked a whole lot nicer when it was brand new, gleaming white concrete, rather than the building you see, covered in soot and dirt.

can't find a pic of the University of Iowa Dental Science Building. It's a low, ugly chunk of concrete. I remarked once that it looked like a molar. Found out later it was supposed to look like a molar!! At least, that's what I remember...

Ladies and Gentlemen I give you Cumbernauld Town Centre, one of the first, if not the first shopping and entertainment malls in the UK. This from about 5 years ago:

As it looks currently from the southwest; some parts of the oldest structure have been demolished and a new mall constructed:

In 1967 the town won an award from an American instute, more recent trophies have not gone down so well, viz. the Plook on the Plinth and it has been subject of the Channel Four programme Demolition as one of the structure people would most like to see torn down.

And locally, the phrase Town Centre refers to the building itself, not just the centre of the town.

I give you The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, California.

'Ugly' isn't exactly the word for it. There really are no words to do it justice, but maybe Umberto Eco came closest when he wrote, "Let's say that Albert Speer, while leafing through a book on Gaudi, swallowed an overgenerous dose of LSD and began building a nuptial catacomb for Liza Minelli."

Well just found this thread and franky all so far are just amateurs. Not only is this the ugliest building in the world, at around $2 billion it is the most expensive home in the world

Always felt the huge 'W' on the second floor was most appropriate...
