UFOs: The Research, the Evidence

Sorry about the slight derail, folks.

You seem to have PMs disabled or something, mate, and I couldn't send you one. I tried a private message on your profile page but it's too many characters.

I suspect a Hittite plot.

Helps!!??

If it is any help my screen is set for 1280 x 800.
Right now it shows only the sun and venus, and zooming in gives a grey screen, it is supposed to look like that.

This subject is truly amazing seeing how every kook on the planet is attracted to it.
Each and every reference used so far are from people who have no credibility whatsoever.
Jacques Vallee for christ sake is used as a reference. Talk about gullibility. This takes the cake.

Bolding mine. Evidence?

Norm

Go to any book store and browse through the new age section. Now tell me that's science.
Here in Australia we have Pinker who immediately comes to mind. He has a myriad of books on UFOs and the unknown.
Then go to a museum of natural history and see if they have a piece of an alien spaceship in exhibit. At least a clear pic of an UFO. :p

Same screen settings - sky stars etc.. look fine, but menu for location/settings, brings up a grey fuzzy screen - diagonal lines.

I changed settings in config to match VGA settings, and Akhenaten's, but no joy.

What version do you have? - I installed the latest 10.2 on Vista.

Programme currently opens in field somewhere near Paris, but no mademoiselles, and I cannot change my coordinates.

You are whistling in the dark my friend. Our Ufologist has taken a two week break. Perhaps he's been transported to the planet Marduk in the constellation of Pisces. When you look up there tonight, give a wave, you never know who's watching. :D

Fine, then. If he comes back let me know. I'll be on Gallifrey for the time being.

from my first post in this thread on page 1
Vallee despite being credited as the most thorough researcher of the period later destroyed his credibility by producing :-
"Five Arguments Against the Extraterrestrial Origin of Unidentified Flying Objects",
which were
1.unexplained close encounters are far more numerous than required for any physical survey of the earth;
2.the humanoid body structure of the alleged "aliens" is not likely to have originated on another planet and is not biologically adapted to space travel;
3.the reported behavior in thousands of abduction reports contradicts the hypothesis of genetic or scientific experimentation on humans by an advanced race;
4.the extension of the phenomenon throughout recorded human history demonstrates that UFOs are not a contemporary phenomenon; and
5.the apparent ability of UFOs to manipulate space and time suggests radically different and richer alternatives.
someones ignoring the evidence again then
:D
why am I not surprised

it isnt anywhere it was destroyed when the last great Time War was fought between the Time Lords and the Daleks.
:p
not that I'm a fan or anything

Me neither :D... But here's some artwork I did earlier this year:

I must also add that Rramjets failure to even look at the evidence must be a (nother) black mark against him. It's very telling that he didn't bother to look... If he had, he could have honestly refuted the claim himself instead of relying on us sceptics to provide the amended information.

Indeed. Hardly uncommon among these kind of nuts, but it never ceases to amaze me how many people refuse to look at the evidence even when it supports their argument. Just look at the 9/11 nonsense. Despite huge amounts of time and effort spent on the part of the nuts trying to disprove the generally accepted story, every single correction to it has been made by the scientists and skeptics, with not a single contribution from the conspiracy nuts. It's the same here. I've seen numerous cases where skeptics managed to debunk potential mundane explanations for various sightings. I've not seen a single case where any of our resident believers have managed to do the same. They just never seem to actually look at the evidence in order to do so.

I am using version 0.10.2, but on Ubuntu 9.04.
I am not sure what differences that makes, but suspect that I can't help you much.

I never watched Dr Who. I like my S/F well done like the first Star Trek series for example, and liked Captain Picard very much as well.

Bumped.

Just so Roger doesn't have any trouble finding it when he returns.
