U.S. Marines go hungry

What stated shortage?

That's the whole point, Tony. There was no stated food shortage. You have said that you don't want to argue that there's a food shortage. Without a food shortage, there is no real story, just a guy who wants food from home (oh no! college campuses across the country must be in terrible shape!). And you think I'm the one stretching to confirm my beliefs? The shoe is on the other foot, Tony.

Heh. Now talk about your strange coincidences!

A cow-orker's son is in the 101st Airborne and is currently in Iraq. Screaming Eagles!

Last night she got an email from him requesting flea collars for himself and his buds. Seems this is the time of year when sand fleas are a serious nuisance over there. They want flea collars to wear on their ankles.

I am happily contributing to the flea collar cause.

I heard that flea collars cause severe irritation on human skin. Dogs have fur, we don't.

It also says 2 meals a day. And that the marines lost 10 pounds in a few weeks.

Not malnutrition,
But you get the impression they're at least a little bit peckish!

But like you say, maybe it's true but over-egged!

I want a better journalist.

Or first hand comment......

Is he in Iraq?

If he were hungry, wouldn't he have told you by now? :)

He was but he's been back for awhile now.

Uh oh.

Thanks. I just forwarded that link to my cow-orker.

There are de-lousing products which are used on an as needed and prescribed basis for humans. I didn't catch whether you were trying to kill dog or cat fleas on people or body/head lice. Or if the sufferers know the difference. They should see the medic. Shampoos and lotions are available. See:

The Marine from the story responds:
We have more than enough food. We receive two hot meals a day, which our cooks prepare for us, and a Meal Ready to Eat (MRE) for lunch. In addition, the cooks keep a never-ending supply of Power Bars, fruit, cake and Gatorade in the chow hall that we built, to which we have 24/7 access.

Great find, Manny

Even Bob Kerr concedes, in the last paragraph, so that should lay the story to rest.

It was odd from the start that no bigger news service was running the story.
