Merged Two Mosques to be built near Ground Zero

Would any of you object to a Billy Graham-style megachurch at Ground Zero?

its not a 13 story mosque. its a 13 story building with a mosque inside of it.

anyways, what would you like the minimum distance to be for a mosque to be built near GZ?

2,000 ft.??

5,000 ft.??

5 miles?

BTw, here's another one you might not want to answer.

Does anyone know what "LA ILLAH ILLA ALLAH" mean?

It's posted on the website of those who want to build the mosq. http://www.masjidmanhattan.com/

Let me answer for you: It happens to mean "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah"

Inclusive, isn't it?

sounds pretty identical to "Thou shalt have no other Gods before me".

Exactly, religions are nothing but inclusive.

Why is it that every time Islam is concerned this board's militant atheism goes right out the window?

Dunno, but two blocks seems a bit close.

Should OKC ban all blond, blue-eyed former Army soldiers from the Oklahoma City National Memorial?

Well that makes perfect sense...

Maybe you should go back to lurking?

The Muslim organization's stated intentions is to "raise the flag of 'LA ILLAH ILLA ALLAH' near the World Trade Center", the site of an Islamic terrorist attack.

It's not a coincidence they chose that vicinity.

Doesn't that ask for a little bit of concern?

would you prefer the banner of Christ?

what exactly should we be concerned about?

anyways, It's my damn city, and I don't care. so butt out.

:)

There's US flags and buildings and soldiers in the centre of Baghdad, one of the holy Muslim cities.

Sauce, goose, gander?

I've been here a long time and am unaware of the board's "militant atheism."

eta:
A rally against the mosque is planned for June 6, D-Day, by the human-rights group Stop Islamicization of America.
Above from the Fox article linked in OP. That's a funny name for a "human rights" group.

Why? Is the flag going to explode?

Depends on how ugly the building is. Other than that, no concern here (speaking for the militant atheist/good architecture auxiliary).

In any case, Billy Graham's ministry was always peripatetic revivalism. There's no such thing as a "Billy Graham-style megachurch," unless you're referring to the rented tents, arenas and stadiums where he staged his "crusades" (plus: brown-nosing presidents). Your hypothetical fails.

Exactly how far from ground zero does it have to be before a Mosque is no longer offensive?
I would say the same distance that a Nazi HQ has to be from a synagogue, or a KKK HQ from a mostly/entirely black neighborhood.

Not saying you're wrong or right but didn't get that from the link - where are you getting this?

liar.

Sorry, there's no other word. You are telling a blatant untruth. What you are doing is no different than the fake Talmudic "quotes" peddled by anti-Semites.

See, this is the big wide world, and some of us actually took the time to learn Arabic. Mine isn't great, but it's good enough.

"La ilaha ila'allah" means, literally, "there is no god but God." That is all. It's a fairly common sentiment in Abrahamic faiths. It is the first half of the shahadah, which is "la ilaha ila'allah, wa Muhammed rasulul'ah." "There is no God but God and Muhammed is his Prophet."
