Twitter has started blocking unregistered users

Seems to me that Disney has figured out that leaving out some red meat for reactionaries to get upset about is a great way to get a lot of free publicity for free. These uninspired retreads probably would not be generating nearly as much free press if it weren't for the fact that it's extremely easy (predictably so) to stir up the anti-woke mobs that will talk about it nonstop.

As opposed to the expensive kind of free publicity. :D

Well, I'll pretend my redundancy was on purpose, because there's always a slim chance that this kind of "free" publicity could end up provoking a CHUD into walking into Disneyland or their offices with a rifle.

The implied threat with all these right wing freakouts is that one of their more unstable, violent acolytes will lash out in an act of stochastic terrorism.

Edit: Realizing now that my original comment was posted in the wrong thread, sorry!

If Musk wrote “free publicity for free” by accident, Lex Fridman would probably claim it was a genius reference to his podcast.

Everyone got a message from twitter support about their efforts at controlling spam

We'll soon be implementing some changes in our effort to reduce spam in Direct Messages. Unverified accounts will have daily limits on the number of DMs they can send. Subscribe today to send more messages: twitter.com/i/twitter_blue…

All the DM spam I can see is from blue tick accounts

It's obviously just more pressure to pay for the tick

I'm a reader, not a registered user, and haven't been able to read twits since the new policy. Until now. Now the few twitter accounts I used to follow show up but are completely hosed. Tweets are not ordered by recency. Just a random, unordered collection of tweets over several years. Essentially useless.
