twins

it is a yahoo group. You have to register in yahoo and go to groups and search «chinese astrology». Get it?
Oh - I was hoping it was something a little more elaborate and involved than simply a yahoo group.

Uh if it's okay I don't think I'll bother.

You're either joking or you're serious. Either way I don't think I am going to learn anything worthwhile from continuing to communicate with you or your acquaintances.

Bye.

you are talented in arts and in current cycle since 2001 are able to make a lot of money with your talent and performance.

I work in computers and astronomy. I've been working in this field since 1997. My current job has been since September 2004 and it's only now that I've started to make any decent money. I'm not very artistic, I can't play any musical instruments, paint, draw, etc.. I'm very colourblind, so art is a mystery to me a lot of the time.

Youve been receiving a lot of support from others since 2001 and study comes easier to you. Before that you were a bad student, impatient and sometimes bossy.
If you knew any of my friends, the one thing they would NOT say about me is bossy. I'm very placid and easy going. I like to think I'm a good student and always have been. I'm working on getting my PhD soon, as well as a homoeopathy course, just so I can understand more about it (for the purposes of the challenge as detailed in another thread). The only support I've had from "others" since 2001 is along the lines of "why haven't you got a decent job yet?", which I'd hardly call support.

Women also come easier to you now and you like to appear self confident and very capable toothers. Being fire you sometimes lose your temper and are charismatic. True so far?:)
I wish!
I've not had a serious girlfriend since 2003.
Most people like to appear self-confident, so I'm not going to count that as a hit, as it's far to general.
As for the lose my temper part, see above, I'm a very easy going person and I can't remember the last time I lost my temper.

I'd actually say that piggys reading was more accurate, as I do get back pain due to a slightly curved spine and bad posture.

score: 1/10

Something starnge happened
i asked in a astrology forum which of two twins was more extrovert and which lost a son in 2000.
all 3 people who tried got it right about both. But the strange thing ws i had given them the wrong tme of birth by mistake. Dont know what to think.

The guys have the same birthday...why would they have different astrology charts for people to choose from? That being said, you do realize that just by chance, each person has a 50% chance of being right. Just by guessing you would be expected to get the exact same results 1 out of 8 times...This is presuming, of course, that their was no confirmation bias inherent in the in the criteria used to distinguish the two men which could substanitally make correct "guesses" more likely.

Lots of times weird things happen. And when wierd things happen, humans like to make up reasons for such events--god, lucky rabbits feet, prayer, planetary alignment, "vibes", magic, a curse, a humans sacrifice to Zeus, etc. These are lame reasons for explaining unusual phenomona because "corollation does not equal causation". (People who wear bathing suit a lot are more likely to get skin cancer, but bathing suits don't "cause" skin cancer...people who wear bathing suits a lot tend to expose large amounts of their skin to sunlight which is known to cause skin cancer.)

If you want to know if Chinese astrology is true or not, do lots of peoples charts and see if "experts" can tell whose chart is whose...or do charts for several people and see if people can correctly pick out the chart that describes them best with an accuracy far greater than be expected by chance.

And remember, people are very good at fooling themselves...in fact, they believed the world was flat for eons and they sacrificed people to please non-existent gods. Although believing that something is true will make you focus on evidence that confirms that belief and ignore contrary evidence, it doesn't change the facts. Even if it rains after a rain dance, it doesn't mean the rain dance caused the rain. And if it doesn't rain it's not because some god thinks the rain dance wasn't good enough.

Just because "feels" true or amazing or "special" or "meaningful"--doesn't make it so. Evidence is a much better path to truth.

youre right, im also getting bad feedback from chums at college. But i want to have a master doing a reading for you guys, thats why i suggest joining the groups fourpillars-fengshui@yahoogroups.com and astrologyemperor@yahoogroups.com.

im only a student, maybe im not good enough. Join the groups you have nothing to lose and you can hisde your identity anyway:)

Wrong again - it's hardly hiding my identity to give you my date/time/place of birth - heck, you can practically reconstruct my SSN from that.

Woodwater, what would it take to convince you that these 'masters' and 'teachers' of yours are either lying to you or seriously self-deluded? Because it sounds to us like you're handing them all the info they need to make a correct 'reading' - with about a 50% chance of being completely correct.

No thanks. I heard I missed the last spaceship out of this planet that the Heaven's Gate people boarded... I seem to be the type who passes up these fabulous opportunities. You do know that James Randi does exactly such reading and fools all sorts of people just like yourself to show you just how gullible people are. Listen, practitioners of Reiki and other therapies where you massage peoples "auras" thought they weren't doing things right either when their "touch therapy" failed--it turns out, people can not detect other peoples "auras" much less heal them or beneath them. An 11 year old girl did a test and made a box--the practioner had to reach through the box and determine which hand was over the researchers hand and which one was over nothing. Guess what. None could tell. The differences were no better than chance. And for years people had been learning this special kind of healing--even nurses. It was a lie. An illusion. If you think there is something to chinese astrology, I assure you it's only because you are fooling yourself. You are free to do that all you want, but should you ever become interested in science and the way people fool themselves, you can come back.

youre right, reiki is bull. i learned it a few years ago. Yet millions of peole speak wonders about it.
I just would like to catch those masters with their pants down. Thats why i told you guys to join those groups cause i cant do it on my own:)

woodwater, I have gotten no responses to my post on that board. Please explain what one has to do to get a reading there.

Yep, and millions of kids believe Santa brings presents.
Millions of people believe John Edwards talks to the dead
Millions of people believe Muslim is the true religion
Millions of people believe Catholic is the true religion
Millions of people believe Mormonism is the true religion
Millions of people believe that other people are going to hell for believing the wrong thing.
Millions of people believe in reincarnation.
Billions of flies eat dung...

I'm not interested. But I'm glad you are at least trying to approach these things skeptically-- Remember, people are really good at fooling themselves.

(Don't keep your mind so open that your brains fall out.)

How can you doubt Chinese Astrology? Good grief, it's both very old AND very inscrutably Chinese, which means it's bulletproof as far as woo is concerned. In fact I think China invented woo. :)

tell them youi have a serious problem and would like help. Dont just ask for a reading for a readings sake

In that case, let's call the whole thing off. The exercise isn't worth lying to people like that, since astrology has already been thoroughly debunked in theory as well as empirically.

But i need help in debunking those masters. They are a curse in modern world and i and others spent thousands in their seminars.
My teacher said fake readings are normally correct to some extent because humands have the same number of chromosomes.Any ideas?:)

And just what in blue heck does astrology have to do with chromosomes!??

Most astrological readings are partway accurate because they are so vague and general that they can apply to anyone.
