Twins and ESP

"Gemma Houghton, 15, says she had a strange 'feeling' Leanne was in danger which prompted her to race upstairs where she found her submerged in the bath."

Pure coincidence. People are constantly getting strange feelings that prompt them to race upstairs. Everyone does that at least once or twice a day. Sooner or later, there will be someone upstairs who needs help.

I used to tell my son "Hey, use your twinner ESP and tell your sister to come home" and a little while later she'd come home. Coincidence?

Obviously they use some sort of hidden spy technology to communicate covertly.

Who are they working for?!

;)

Well, they did say, "Psychologists have studied twins in attempts to find proof of such links, which are supported by widespread anecdotal evidence.

However most scientists believe they are down to a tendency to attach too much significance to mere coincidences as well as the similarities of twins due to their shared genetics and upbringings."

People are frequently called to their surroundings by subconsciously perceived sensations which makes them seem like they came out of the blue. Don't you think it's more likely that an unusual noise or the cessation of any noise was simply brought to her conscious attention? The usual re-working of memories by subsequent events does the rest.

"Submerged" in a bath all of things.Whatever next?
Curious her Sister bathes without locking the door. ;)

The sister had a history of "fits" - Is that UK for "seizures?" That's what I took it to mean at any rate, and if so, then the sister already knew her twin was prone to seizures. So combine a history like that with perhaps her sister being unusually quiet or taking longer than normal in the bath, and it's just a twin who was paying attention. Fortunate but not supernatural.

I can vouch for how absurdly "sensitive" twins can be to each others' moods and habits! My younger sisters are idents, and they practically can finish each others' sentences, even after having lived on different continents for a few years. (They're back in the same county now: Living apart was just too hard on them.)

This is not to say they are largely concurrent in their thinking, however; it's just that they understand each other so well. Thus, K can say, "I will think this" and be correct. One of the Girls would definitely have noticed an unusual length of bath or the absense of normal noises, IMHO, so I think it's entirely possible this was the case in the cited occurance.

Just my two cents' worth, MK

I have identical 4 year old twin daughters and I used to run a multiples group with at least 38 sets of twins and 2 set of triplets. I haven't seen or heard anything from my own twins or other peoples to suggest any psychic links apart from the special relationship you'd expect from siblings sharing such a close bond.

You wouldn't believe how meany people have asked if my twin daughters have ever displayed psychic powers and they are always disappointed when I say no. Every time I hear a story of 'psychic' twins it's always from a friend or neighbour never the parents. I am taking into consideration the fact I may have just been lucky enough to run a club mainly attended by sceptic parents ;).

You wouldn't believe how many people ask if my son and daughter are identical twins.

When they were born we were asked if we wanted to be in a Mayo study of twins and we still get questionares 18 years later and they do telephone interviews that can last up to 45 minutes with each twin. I hope some good comes out of it.

im a twin, but we are fraternal. However, we do freak people out that we can finish each other's sentences, and just look at each other and know what each is thinking about a certain situation we are witnessing.

Even after not living with her for almost 12 years, when I do visit her, we do get back into the same rut as if we were never apart.
