Turns out Black Lives Matter didn't kill that cop

Surprised there isn't a thread on this.

Back in September Joseph Gliniewicz was found dead from two gunshot wounds. Immediately conservative outlets and social media were flooded with claims that Black Lives Matter had sparked his murder by creating a war on cops. I had to unfriend some people over that matter.

Well it turns out he wasn't killed by roaming anti cop vigilantes working at the behest of Black Lives Matter. He killed himself.

Somehow I suspect all those people I unfriended probably aren't going to apologize for saying the things they did though.

Sad thing is that this smelled bad almost immediately, but they went right ahead with the adulation of the hero and vilification of minorities.

They had to feed the narrative that complaining about some violence issues means BLM wanted all cops dead.

He was a crook who killed himself when he was about to be exposed.

There are times when it's fine - this was, for a moment, breaking news where police were going door-to-door hunting for these three guys that had supposedly shot him. News orgs covering that is fine.

The problem is the wild leap to "Black Lives Matter is responsible because they want to kill all cops", which was always idiotic.

It illustrates the problem. Cops kill unarmed blacks, even shooting one in the back that was running away, and killing a 12 yr old with a toy gun and a man in a store who merely had an air rifle from the store shelf.

Instead of addressing the problem, of noting there are bad apples and inadequate training, the cops get mad at people who complained about the travesties.

It seems Gliniewicz was a pretty awful person; local bar owners complained that he got drunk, he groped a woman at a police party, a half dozen suspensions, an "inappropriate relationship" with a subordinate that cost the town dearly in a lawsuit, he threatened to shoot the police dispatcher, harassed multiple women, allowed residents to use the city’s fuel pumps and used a police car for a family vacation.

A police chief who cares? His colleagues sent a letter that detailed Gliniewicz’s misdeeds to the chief, who passed their names to the lieutenant.
