How many more before we realize that something unnatural is going on?

Earthquakes and tsunamis are about as natural as one can get. They are inherent consequences of the forces that built and shaped the Earth.

Are suggesting that the off-shore earthquakes that plague Japan are consequences of human activity, such as fracking? If so please explain, especially since we are not talking about the same phenomenon as in Oklahoma.

I think they are copying us. Feb 22, 2011 Christchurch 6.2... 17 days later, March 11th, Japan has a 9.1 with Tsunami.

Now, we have a 7.8 and a Tsunami on the 14th of Nov, so what does Japan do?

Are the reports of fatalities confirmed? The Guardian's report is:

There were no reports of severe injuries from the quake, which struck at a depth of 30km (18.6 miles), according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. The same region was hit by a series of weaker quakes in the following few hours.

Japan Times: According to NHK, cooling equipment for the spent nuclear fuel pool in the reactor No. 3 of Tepco's Fukushima No. 2 power plant has stopped.

Kyodo: Fukushima police say a fire broke out at petrochemical complex in Iwaki, Fukushima, but was extinguished 25 minutes later.

Does this mean we go back to mindless radiation phobia?

NHK is reporting 10/11 injuries; no mention of any fatalities. They're also reporting that all the warnings are lifted and the bullet trains and airports will get back on their regular schedules shortly.

Nothing from the after effects, but the Japanese meteorological people are saying they expect a similar quake in magnitude and proximity within a week to ten days.

Today's quake is an aftershock from 2011. Presumably the same could be true of the recent New Zealand quake.

The 7.8 we had wasn't an aftershock from 2010 (the Initial shock was Sep of 2010, the Feb quake was an aftershock of that one)

For a start, this one was bigger being a 7.8 while even the Canterbury Earthquake in 2010 was only a 7.1, the 2011 Christchurch one was smaller still as 6.2.

Secondly, totally different fault zones involved. However, this one did seem to trigger aftershocks in the Seddon area which had been settling after a big series of Earthquakes in 2013.

No, and there never actually was a claim of deaths. It was a translation/interpretation error made by the woman I was listening to on the live feed. She was telling the (English speaking) audience what the Japanese talking head authorities were saying. She was doing it at the same time that they were saying it. It wasn't the only thing that she bungled. I was watching NHK.

Pretty soon I realized she was wrong about the deaths because that info was nowhere to be found in any of the breaking news releases.
