The fact that she spent years calling herself a lawyer could have serious legal consequences - assuming at anyone had the guts to do something about it.

It depends on who or what companies she was advising when cosplaying. They could have entered into contracts written up by her which are unenforceable, for example.

The Zacharias flap is amusing in a way, but I think the question of whether it's quite illegal or not to say she's a lawyer misses a point. She could have been honest, and appeared honest, and had no issue at all, if she'd just said what her situation was, that she's legally trained, has worked in the profession, but hasn't finished the process of becoming an attorney. She could even strain the truth and say she knows a lot about the subject! Instead, of course, she went to great lengths to try to figure out just how far she could go and just how much of a lie she could tell and get away with it. Whether or not she snuck through the legal keyhole this time, she's made her character clear.
