Trump's Second Term

Could also go in the Musk thread.

Intermittent trillionaire Elon Musk settled a class action lawsuit Thursday over allegations that his political action committee engaged in fraud in the 2024 presidential election by falsely telling voters they had a chance to randomly win $1 million when the winners were actually predetermined.

I swear the Republicans have a factory pumping these women out. They all look and sound exactly the same. Weird.
Elsewhere when someone said maybe she was a DEI hire, I replied that I didn't think, "idiots who look like they're trying to enter an Ivanka Trump lookalike contest" was a demographic that needed more representation in Trump's administration.

He wants to nuke Iran. But he's been warned nuking people makes you look like the bad guy, somehow. A lot of people don't know that. So he wants a bomb that's like really really big. Like a nuke. But not a nuke. A big, beautiful bomb. To eradicate Iran, but importantly it has to make him look strong, and not make him look bad for killing them all. Experts are working on it right now.

I'm pretty sure he's just talking about the MOAB. Maybe he can't remember the name. It is pretty complicated, after all.

She has a law degree so can call herself a lawyer
A quick search suggests the terms lawyer and attorney, often used interchangeably, are not protected at federal level, but may be restricted in individual states. I haven't checked all 50, but California and New York, to pick two at random, do require the holder of such a title to be a member of the bar.

I think they are a lot like the crowds you see whooping it up at professional wrestling events. I'm pretty sure most of those people are well aware that these are not "real" sporting events- the matches don't "make sense" in that connection; but they are, for these people, very entertaining (doesn't do anything for me, but to each their own). Same thing here, I suspect- Trump's crowds aren't there to be informed of policy or, really, even to hear about political distinctions. They are there purely for the entertainment value. And Trump knows this- when he says "is there anything like a Trump rally?" it's his tacit admission that he doesn't care any more than they do about such mundane things as policy, he's only there to give them a reason to whoop it up for the political equivalent of Hulk Hogan (or whoever). I don't think it's an accident that there is so much overlap between the professional wrestling and the Trump political worlds- they both strive only for fans, and don't require any more substance than that.
I think a good chunk of the crowds at TACO rallies are there for the paycheck. In fact you can see some of them mouthing it "paycheck, paycheck, paycheck... ugh, why did I ruin my life? paycheck"
