Trump's Second Term

What is Trump cooking up?

The head of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has travelled to Moscow for unannounced talks, the BBC's US news partner CBS has reported.

John Ratcliffe reportedly arrived in the Russian capital earlier on Tuesday. Neither Washington or Moscow have confirmed the nature of the visit or who he was due to meet.

In-person talks between high-level American and Russian officials are rare.

Flight tracking data confirmed a large US military aircraft travelled to Russia from the US via Latvia on Tuesday. It departed later on Tuesday.

Could be a big prisoner swap. Whatever it is, we won't be told the truth about it.

Setting the groundwork to flee to Moscow after the Dems take congress, but before they can impeach and convict him?

What's odd is sending him on a large transport plane instead of one of the many small private jets the government has.

You know, it's been months, maybe years, since the revelation of it (if it exists) would have any impact whatsoever on his base. Or his tenure.
Alternately said, it's unlikely that it would have had any real impact since he won the primaries before his first term. Even then, it might not have mattered much, given how many voted for him as a protest vote against the sliminess of the Republican establishment.

ETA: Incidentally, it may be worth noting again that the claimed pee tape in question wasn't really about a sexual thing. It was a "Trump is a sick ◊◊◊◊" thing not actually all that far from recent revelations about how he's treated Harp.

Trump hopes that Russia joins his Iran Sanctions - they will take what he offers and continue trading with the regime
That will be all the visit was. Tell the Russians face to face Trump wants them to at least pretend to join in his sanctions against Iran, and laying out how much he's prepared to overlook.

My (maybe outlandish) guess is related to Trump’s weird ‘57 nukes’ thing last week. It sounded like he’s worried NK might one morning have less than 57 nukes, followed by a certain NK ally suddenly having more than zero. If there was chatter to that effect I’d expect Trump to be charming Kim again, and sneaking around in Russia to get his buddies there to stop it.
