Trump's Second Term

Nope... Maine is well below that line. The only part that's above it for the continental US is that tippy-tip of Minnesota. And that's not even physically land-attached. Except in the winter when the lake freezes and people can drive to that part while staying in the US.

I respectfully disagree. Seattle is actually slightly further north than the very northern tip of Maine.

Seattle, 47°36′14″N 122°19′48″W

You are right! It just looks like it sticks up into Canada. My bad.

You go on right ahead and keep believing that. Your candidates are going down in November. Impeachment is coming.

Yeah, real big thing getting your guy to win in the primaries. Never mind that the majority of the time you just pick the guy who is already the front-runner (unless its the rare time they might not be loyal enough) and claim victory. Never mind the number of embarrassing failures you've endorsed - like the one who lost to a candidate that had withdrawn a month before.

Pronoun trouble...
By "it" I meant above the 49th parallel, not above Maine.

The primaries are where they pick party-based candidates, yes? So who are the 3% who did NOT vote for a Republican candidate?

Srsly, Trump doesn't have a clue how this election stuff all works. Not a single ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ clue. And clearly his team aren't about to disabuse him of this rank ignorance either. How does he even qualify for politics let alone the big chair??!

The USA demanded Canada's capitulation as if it had lost a war.

Details of last minute demands

Restrictions on Canada's right to pursue independent global trade deals (veto power).
Changes to French-language rules in Quebec.
Demands to eliminate Canadian cultural content quotas (Online Streaming Act).
Exclusion of heavy vehicles (Ford/GM plants) from tariff relief.
Opening up procurement for public projects to American companies.
Dismantling Canadian dairy supply management entirely.
Demands for Canada to align domestic tariffs automatically with US trade policy.
Full elimination of provincial liquor board restrictions on US alcohol imports.
Forced synchronization of pesticide and agricultural chemical regulations.
New US intellectual property rules extending drug patent protections.
Demands for shared management or full US control over critical mineral extraction and export.
Direct pressure to increase defense spending to meet strict US targets.
Reductions to the 'de minimis' threshold for tax-free US cross-border purchases.

This appears to be accurate, but do you have a source for the graphic? I'm unable to locate the text using DuckDuckGo.

(snip - already referenced in post above)

I really wish people would take the time to verify stuff before they post it. This list appears to have originated on Facebook, which is terrible for crap like this. Of the 13 items on the list, I could find direct verification for only four of them:

Directly verified:
  • Cultural and Language Protections — French-language content rules, Online Streaming Act, bilingual packaging labels (confirmed by Carney's press conferences and NYT/CBC/AP)
  • Critical Minerals Access — Preferential/near-exclusive access to Canadian critical minerals (confirmed by NYT, CBC, Politico)
  • Auto Sector Changes — Exemptions for medium/heavy-duty trucks from tariff relief (confirmed by Toronto Star, NYT, CBC)
  • Restrict Independent Trade Deals — Restrictions on Canada's ability to strike trade deals with other countries (confirmed by NYT, NBC, Reuters)

3 items are only partially supported or obliquely referenced:
  • Digital Services Tax & Online News Act — "Digital trade" provisions mentioned, but specific tax legislation repeal not detailed
  • Energy Priority Allocation — Energy exemptions noted in tariff lists, but priority allocation mandates not explicitly documented
  • Agricultural Safeguards — Dairy mentioned as tariff-affected, but supply management dismantling not specifically documented

6 items have no direct verification and probably should not be on the list:
  • Veto Over Strategic Infrastructure Partnerships — No joint U.S.-Canada review board or veto mechanism reported
  • Preemptive Third-Party Sanctions Matching — Not documented in any August 2026 trade negotiation coverage
  • "Buy Canada" Public Procurement Elimination — Not mentioned in any mainstream journalism
  • Pharmaceutical Patent Extensions — Completely absent from reporting; USMCA's data exclusivity provisions already settled
  • Military & Arctic Defense Spending Mandates — U.S. pressure on F-35 purchases existed, but no "binding mandates" with specific spending benchmarks documented
  • Customs & De Minimis Rule Reductions — No reporting on U.S. demands to lower Canada's CAD 20 e-commerce threshold

I'm really upset by the Trump administration's last minute tactics, but please do not pollute the waters with bad information.

He seems to have a little strength in the arm to wave the flag. He might be swinging a golf club now, after the stroke a year ago. But the left hand is still mostly useless for golf. Not dying fast enough. From Australian news:

Maybe if he says it enough times it will come true. And some details how would be good.

More Canada outrage. Hey Canada, he'll be gone by next year, so hang in there.

Canada has been ripping off the United States of America for years. Their ridiculously high tariffs on our Farmers and farm products has made life impossible for these great American Patriots, and has long created a 60 Billion Dollar Deficit between our two Countries. Not sustainable, and NOT ANYMORE! On January First, 2027, Tariffs on all Cars, Trucks, both large and small, Automotive Parts, and Steel, will be increased to 50%. Build in the U.S. and there are ZERO TARIFFS. Canada will be treated like a State no longer! On Trade, and in other ways, also, they are among the worst Nations in the World to deal with. They feel entitled, and yet, WE DON’T NEED CANADA, THEY NEED US! They do 95% of their business with the U.S., with us, the exact opposite! Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

There will be some pain, but we will be just fine. In fact, we will be stronger in the long term as a result of not being as reliant on one trading partner and then hoping they never turn against us. That was our mistake.

In the 1988 election, John Turner warned us about becoming too reliant on america and I kind of wish he were alive to see how right he was.
