The polling officials can simply direct voters to a nearby, "unpatrolled" station instead. Or use mail-in voting beforehand.
Where there is no mail-in, voters can only go to their designated polling place. You can't shop around, so to speak, as I understand it.The polling officials can simply direct voters to a nearby, "unpatrolled" station instead. Or use mail-in voting beforehand.
Why can't you attend any polling station, at least in the same state?! What if you are out of town? Or out of state? What if the polling station is overrun by official Nazi obstructionists?Where there is no mail-in, voters can only go to their designated polling place. Hopefully they let Trump sink like a stone before the midterms. And send him to jail afterwards. President Vance before December?Things can only go downhill for Trump, and he will become more visibly unhinged.
Hopefully Republicans will take their cue and jump ship right after the Midterms.
That's the thing. We are seeing the best and most competent Trump we are going to see. He's only going to get worse and more erratic.Things can only go downhill for Trump, and he will become more visibly unhinged.

And, of course, each monitor will have to come with a detachment of ICE agents for protection.
In the UK you only have one polling station you can use, and they are very local. It's why we've never needed photo ID. The process is that you go into the polling station (with or without your polling card) you'll go to the table designated usually by your postcode, you give them your name and address (and now show "photo ID") they look for you on the list, rule out your name and hand you your voting paper. These days you can also do it by post. I still prefer to do it in person. Why can't you attend any polling station, at least in the same state?! What if you are out of town? Or out of state? In Australia the term "absentee ballot" refers specifically to the procedure used when a voter attends a voting place which is not in the electoral district in which they are registered to vote. Instead of marking the ballot paper and putting it in the ballot box, the voter's ballot paper is placed in an envelope and then it is sent by the voting official to the voter's home district to be counted there.
Never mind. Darat explained it very well. Very much the same in the U.S.Why can't you attend any polling station, at least in the same state?! What if you are out of town? Or out of state? What if the polling station is overrun by official Nazi obstructionists?
Yes there are things about Australian voting that I think they do better than the UK. Especially the actual voting system, but the UK absentee voting arrangements are pretty flexible. For example my ex wife asked me to vote for her for a local election and postal votes are also fairly straightforward. And polling stations are pretty handy and open from 07:00 to 22:00. I've never waited more than 2 minutes to vote, and probably never walked more than 20 minutes to vote.*stunned*

I have often thought this. If the press had the balls and the perception of how much they share a common interest, this would have happened long ago. When he does this the next reporter should ask exactly the same question.
What happens if you needed to be away from your local district at short notice? Do you forfeit your right to vote?Never mind. Darat explained it very well. Very much the same in the U.S.
