Honestly? I would have no problem with maintenance. Even if it wasn't strictly necessary, but could do some good, there wouldn't be much reason to complain at all. The problem certainly isn't in the "if it ain't broken" part, though the pool had serious issues that were worth trying to fix. The "don't break it" part feels like it's underselling what went on, though.

The problem was and is in the extreme corruption, irresponsibility, incompetence, toxic propaganda, and so on that have been integral in every step that the Trump Administration took. All this hubbub about the algae may be fun and easy to mock and meme and is embarrassing to them, but it's also just a result and not really the real problem.

I'm going to have to object, again. Complaints about zero integrity in this administration and in the Republican Party in general are well warranted, yes. In the country? Not so well warranted. The Democratic Party has consistently and actively worked to uphold the trustworthiness and integrity of the government.

We certainly deserve to take a very real hit and much mockery because of the Republican Party, but there's little value in accepting bothsiderism, whatever the form.

Adding to that - a tiny, vulnerable minority. The Republican Party largely acts like bullies when it comes to who they go after, either way. They're the stealing candy from a baby while mocking the baby crowd, politically speaking.

Correction - partially back. His fixes tend to be very incomplete in practice.

I recently joked about the homoeroticism of sweaty half-naked men grabbing each other and rolling around outside on the White House lawn. Someone responded "I'd rather have that than a drag queen pole dancing on the White House front lawn."
I'm pretty sure I don't remember that happening, so it was likely either a fantasy they cooked up in their imagination or one of those hypothetical scenarios that would have happened if Trump had lost.

The problem is that however honourable and trustworthy the Democratic party is, it has no value if people think the republicans if elected will just ignore commitments made by a democratic executive. In parliamentary democracies e.g. UK, Australia, France, Germany, a new government even if of a different political hue will feel bound by their predecessors commitments, even if they subsequently try to renegotiate them, they will not just walk out of them. Now Trump has set the example, there is no certainty that a Vance executive won't just set aside e.g. Trump's Iran deal.

I love that they seem to sincerely believe that 'okay but this horrible thing that didn't happen would also have been bad so what Drumpf did was okay' is some sort of compelling, rational argument.

To be clear, I'm not objecting to that. As I said, we certainly deserve to take a very real hit and mockery because of the Republican Party. Rather, what I object to is the "Zero integrity left in that joke of a country" part. That just ends up working much like bothsiderism does and is just as objectionable.
