They will want stadiums that 1) have natural grass, and 2) are large enough to handle the more popular games. Most of our large stadiums that could handle those games (such as skydome or Olympic stadium) have artificial turf, and you would have to do a special grass installation (which would take time to do). They would have had to plan the move months ago.

I think Commonwealth stadium in Edmonton is one of the few places in Canada which is large enough and has natural grass. Kind of surprised it was not picked as a site to host at least a few games.

One of the consequences of the money-grubbing expansion of the World Cup to have 48 teams is that there's no chance of relocation at short notice in the event of unexpected events.
