Ahead of the White House Correspondents’ dinner, which Trump is set to attend for the first time as president, the journalists issued a reminder that the president has repeatedly attacked the media and threatened to silence reporters over the last year.

“The dinner has long served as a symbol of the vital and irreplaceable role of a free press in American democracy and a celebration of the First Amendment and the journalists who uphold it,” the letter read. “President Trump’s systematic, sustained, and unprecedented attacks on the free press render his presence at such an event a profound contradiction of its purpose.”

The letter suggested a member of the White House Correspondents’ Association make a forceful defense of freedom of the press and condemn those who attack the media.

Whether we like it or not, we as Americans have to own up to it. The Americans that voted for him are obviously the most at fault but the ones that were apathetic are, arguably, as much if not more at fault.

I agree that I certainly didn't want this, and a lot of us didn't, but there were more that did. He didn't kind of win, he ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ crushed Kamala. That's our fault as a whole, and while we might get painted with that brush, and it sucks, we still have to wear it.

It's been pointed out before that Trump's nasty insults are primarily directed at female reporters. Addressing her as "darling" and telling her to "Be QUIET", telling Kaitlin Collins “You are so bad. You know, you are the worst reporter. No wonder CNN has no ratings because of people like you,” and "You know why you’re not smiling? Because you know you’re not telling the truth, and you’re a very dishonest organization, and they should be ashamed of you,” calling Katie Rogers “a third rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out", telling Mary Bruce “You know, it’s not the question that I mind.
