Minesweepers don't deliver maximum lethality so they don't belong in the MAGA armed forces.
 
Nuclear weapons are not used for civil engineering projects like canals primarily due to uncontrollable environmental contamination, high costs of cleaning up radioactive debris, and international treaties banning such activities. Although studies like Project Plowshare explored this, they found that radioactive "venting" (releasing radiation) and long-term contamination made them inefficient compared to conventional explosives

Multiple pages behind, as usual, but had to comment on this. Look at the large picture of MCM-1 at the beginning of the article. On the foredeck, in front of the bridge is a large winch thingy. Actually a Variable Depth Sonar (VDS) winch. I designed parts of that. 40 years ago! Including the stand it sits upon which exists because of a Navy screwup.
The sonar is a large egg which, as the name implies, can be lowered to varying depths. Or raised back up inside the ship for maintenance. Except it sits in a "well" in the hull and didn't rise high enough to be above the waterline for maintenance. Oops, guess we need a stand. Which causes the winch to block part of the view from the bridge.
The stand had to be made so that there was no complete loop of metal to prevent eddy currents which could be detected by mines, hence various insulated joints. The winch itself is largely aluminum and bronze, again to prevent detection. The whole ship is like that.
The LCS replacements, not so much!
ETA: According to Wikipedia, the USN does still have four MCM in commission.

RN mine hunters have similar sonar abilities but the variable depth sonar is deployed over the stern and and can be brought completely out of the water, they have been in use since the 70s.
We had variable depth sonar for anti submarine work on the Frigates I served on way back in the 70s and 80s.

The story was knowingly FAKE and, in a certain way, you can say that those Media Outlets that generated it should be brought up on Charges for TREASON for the dissemination of false information! The fact is, Iran is being decimated, and the only battles they "win" are those that they create through Al, and are distributed by Corrupt Media Outlets. The Radical Leftwing Press knows this full well, but continues to go forward with false stories and LIES. That's why their Approval Rating is so low, and I can win a Presidential Election, IN A LANDSLIDE, getting only 5% positive Press They have no credibility! I am so thrilled to see Brendan Carr, the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), looking at the licenses of some of these Corrupt and Highly Unpatriotic "News" Organizations. They get Billions of Dollars of FREE American Airwaves, and use it to perpetuate LIES, both in News and almost all of their Shows, including the Late Night Morons, who get gigantic Salaries for horrible Ratings, and never get, as I used to say in The Apprentice, "FIRED."

How badly has the president of the USA ◊◊◊◊◊◊ up when he starts a war in the Middle East that threatens world economies and he declares he wants communist China to step in and clear up the mess he made? Imagine any previous president saying that.

It feels like it ought to be crazy hyperbole to suggest this might be the US's equivalent of the Suez Crisis, when Britain and France decided to show the world whether or not they were still great powers and, well, they kinda did, but not as they hoped. Just putting it out there that this feels really, really bad for the US. It's not that America can't beat Iran militarily. It's that Trump can't do it politically because he needs to make it look like it was easy, and it just isn't.

And given how insanely demented and moronic his behaviour and speechifying has become lately, it's doubtful any of this can be attributed to him personally dictating stuff either, or even reviewing and approving the text. It's almost certain he doesn't know this went out.

He seems to imagine people are finding obviously false Iranian AI propaganda viral videos on mainstream TV news, rather than shared on social media on their phones. And that broadcasters are in league with the Iranian government.

How far out of touch do his handlers want him to appear to be?

No, you can't make that case, Donny. There's a clear national boundary between the UAE and Iran right through the Hormuz. It's been that way for centuries. The only reason international shipping has been allowed transit is because both countries have been playing nice to date. But you ◊◊◊◊◊◊ that arrangement fair in the arse.

Or perhaps you might like to insist international navies of all sorts roam unmolested into New York harbour, or up the Potomac to DC, or off the coast of Mar-a-Lago. Because these waterways too are "their own territory" which they might want to protect. Sound like a good idea?
