Is this for real? It's not undeniably true but undeniably dense. I mean, I know people can be stupid, but are they really that stupid? If Canada had become a state, perhaps some of the players would be playing for the US, but there would be NO CANADIAN TEAM AT ALL!

It was a 'celebratory call'.

Usually, I try to trim down stuff I quote, removing unnecessary details (to avoid copyright issues, and to concentrate only on relevant details). I just made the cut at the wrong place.

Historically, Canada has won 20 gold medals at the men's junior championships (compared to 7 for the USA), 14 gold medals at the olympics (compared to 6 the USA), and 28 gold medals at the world cup (compared to 3 for the Americans).

Yeah, the Americans got olympic gold this year, but I think Canada has a much better record on the podium than the Americans.

Seriously, this looks like it will be such a train wreck.... Trump and FIFA competing for the "most corrupt" prize, immigration crackdown that will affect the ability of foreigners to attend (and a toxic environment for those who could attend but will boycott the games out of principle), a federal government that is incompetent in handling both national security and public works projects...
