If we push back against Trump it just makes him worse? It was Katy Miller who tweeted "soon" with a map of America over Greenland. It's a lot more loonies than just Trump.

Think of how many deaths trump is directly responsible for. The people killed in the boat attacks in the Caribbean Sea and the Eastern Pacific Ocean. The people who died during the invasion of Venezuela. The close to 50 people who have died as a result of the ramped up ICE actions. All of these people would be alive today if trump wasn't our president.

Congress did try to fix it when Nixon tried it, I believe. The administration knows this, and I think their strategy is to make the courts decide if the relevant laws are constitutional, which could leave the only mechanism of repair to be an amendment of some sort. We are finding the holes in the Constitution.

Here's the thing about the Constitution:

It really doesn't have any "holes." The 9th (and 10th) amendments exist. Particularly the 9th amendment. Both amendments explicitly state that any powers not delegated to the US Government, are retained as right of the people (9th amendment), and/or powers of the states (10th amendment.) So any "holes" in the constitution, means that it's the right of the states and of the people.

In other words, if it isn't explicitly stated, for instance, that the President gets to decide how the money appropriated by Congress is spent, then the president does not have that power.

A side note:

I have no idea why the 9th amendment is almost never referenced. The 9th amendment is perhaps THE most important wording in any and all human rights documentation ever written. It essentially means that, just because a particular action isn't explicitly written as a right; e.g. "freedom of speech," "freedom of religion," "due process," etc; doesn't mean it isn't a right. Not only does it not mean it isn't a right, but it is actually equal in stature to all of the major rights that ARE listed, such as the examples previously stated. In other words, chewing bubble while sitting on a bus is a human right equal to the freedom of speech, or to worship as you please as stated in the first amendment.

The 9th amendment literally protects women's health care, LBGTQ+, and any other unconstitutional ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ the right wing keeps trying to restrict. The federal government is NOT given the explicit power to deny health care to women, to deny who gets to marry whom, and so forth. Therefore, these things are protected under the 9th amendment.

So if there is a "hole" in the constitution, it isn't actually a "hole." It is covered by either the 9th or the 10th amendment, and therefore, the feds do not have whatever "power" is being discussed that Articles I, II, or II does not specifically cover.
