They have nuked multiple threads on the matter and then let one stay up when it was obvious that it was very much in the mainstream news that it could not be ignored. Ehh. Not really au contraire. He's been bizarre, scary, and unhinged for a long time now. He's getting worse and is on course to continue to get worse and worse, sure, but that doesn't even remotely negate that he has been horrifically bad since before he even started his first term and has consistently worsened since then.

The looney bandwagon is not being driven by Trump. It's the unhinged, unreconstructed, unelected fascists behind him such as Miller, Thiel, Bannon, Navarro, etc. Plus an army of acolytes doing everything from dressing him to writing his emails, postings and tirades.

If they all dropped dead right now, Trump would become completely unguided and unable to even be shown in public he would be so embarrassing. I'm talking unable to feed himself, dribble down his shirt, streams of expletives, crap behind the curtains crazy. I think Trump has been given a bad medical diagnosis that made him face his mortality.
As a result, he's desperate to do something, anything, that will put him permanently in the history books that's outside of the revision powers of US president and historians.
A Nobel Peace Prize would have been something like that.
Extending US territory to Greenland is another.

What enrages him is other countries just waiting him out and plan to return to business as usual after he's gone.
