Trump's Second Term

Exxon are out.

I'm sure they are heartbroken

Trump: No, I didn't like Exxon's response. I'd probably be inclined to keep Exxon out. I didn't like their response. They're playing too cute.

for context exxon called venezuelan oil operations uninvestible. pretty cute.

This sounds a bit like a guy explaining he decided he definitely didn't want to go on a date with Cindy Crawford after she told him to get lost and called security.

If Exxon would need Venezuelan laws changed I suppose you'd need to have connections with whoever is running Venezuela these days and I'm not sure anyone knows who that is.

He looks more like the losing silverback gorilla ousted by the younger male.
Also, imagine if Biden or Obama did what was essentially milk commercials. The far-right would ridicule them for months, but I'm sure they see this image of Super-Duper Strongman Dump and think he just looks manly and intimidating, milk moustache and all.

Navarro on Jerome Powell: "If you actually look at what he's being investigated for, it looks like there's luxury elevators and dining rooms ... we know he made false statements. The only question is whether he was aware and did it with malice." (Note that even Maria Bartiromo isn't really buying it.)

Does he really though?

BARTIROMO: This morning, JP Morgan's stock is down 3%, American Express is down sharply. Analysts say this is going to see an impact on 2026 earnings of these credit card companies between 25% and 250%.

BILL PULTE: Well, I would defer to President Trump on this specific policy. Obviously I support it. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna
@RepLuna
In July 2025, I formally referred Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell to the Department of Justice for potential perjury and false statements to Congress and senior administration officials.

I laid out, in detail, how Jerome Powell lied under oath to Congress and misrepresented facts in official communications to senior administration officials, including OMB Director Russell Vought.

Unelected bureaucrats do not get a free pass. This is exactly why oversight exists, and I am thankful the @DOJ is taking this seriously. No one is above the law.

it has exactly the same force of law on private companies as an Executive Order has.

Companies comply not because they couldn't easily challenge his nonsense in court, but because they fear his pettiness and that of his lemmings.

BARTIROMO: This morning, JP Morgan's stock is down 3%, American Express is down sharply.
It's funny, I didn't think of this harming American Express as I still think of them as the charge card company rather than for credit cards. Then again I realise I don't know how much of their business is CCs as it's a barely-visible player in the market over here, where Visa and Mastercard have the market nearly sewn up between them.

Analysts say this is going to see an impact on 2026 earnings of these credit card companies between 25% and 250%.

BILL PULTE: Well, I would defer to President Trump on this specific policy. Obviously I support it. He knows exactly what he's doing.
He'll tell you it's between 500% and 12,500%. Like nobody has seen before.
