Yes, the supposed sanctity of marriage was one of the major objections even back in the first debate here on civil unions. It is a particular irony that this objection was raised by the Catholic archbishop of Vermont, given that civil union was always a civil issue, and the Catholic Church has long disparaged civil marriage as lacking sanctity already.

In an adjunct to this whole affair, I note that Trump is now suing to get rid of sign language interpretation of his appearances because (and you couldn't make this up) it detracts from his ability to control his image!

While I'm all for sign language interpretation, I've seen many events where the signer was much too close to the speaker, and I found it an annoying distraction. But I don't like display lights on my TV when I'm trying to watch it, either.

He could almost have a point. There is no control over what signs are used to represent people, for example. I was told that one of the commonly used signs for Bill Clinton was a mime of undoing the zipper on trousers.

trump says around 28,000 people a year die from snakebite in Peru. Google AI says:
