Trump's Second Term

Nicholas Kristof on _____ and Xi:
The most important bilateral relationship in the world today is between the United States and China, and Trump has bungled it. He started a trade war that Washington has been losing, and if a truce is formalized this week, it will likely be one with China holding power over America and leaving our influence diminished.

In effect, Trump started a trade war and soon found that he was carrying a tariff to a knife fight. The trade bully unexpectedly found himself bullied, so he began to court China and make concessions.

Trump dialed back tariffs (before threatening new ones). He eased rules on exporting chips to China. He allowed TikTok to continue to operate in the United States, despite serious national security concerns. He blocked a visit to the United States by Taiwan’s president and reportedly delayed an arms sale to Taiwan. As the Center for American Progress put it, “the Trump administration’s approach to China is in a strategic free fall.”

We Americans may have lost not just a trade war but a chunk of our global credibility and influence for years to come, in ways that would be seen globally as a harbinger of American decline.

Trump wants Pete Rose in the world series.
I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to copy the image your post refers to for those who don't want to click the link.

Horrified by the toilet

Caroline Leavitt
@karolineleavitt
When I first learned a toilet like that existed inside the White House, I was horrified

President Trump is making the People’s House more elegant and beautiful for generations of Americans to come!
You and me, Caroline. The fact the throne is so close the window without any blinds is just criminal. What if some poor soul takes a look when the toilet is in use !? What about planes going by, are they safe ? Let's hope Mr.President will cover the window panes with gold ASAP.

Misogyny and racism much?
"The undeserving poor." It's 2025 and we're still getting ◊◊◊◊◊ like these telling each other not to help people who need help because they'll only squander it on ciggies and booze.

The hell with charity. Those people just want to take advantage of our good nature. We're the victims here. They're basically robbing us because we're too nice.

Did you see what's outside that window though? That's the East wing, isn't it? See? It was all just a dream. Like Bobby Ewing stepping out of the shower. Trump heaves his great bulk up off the can and hey, presto, glance outside and it was all just a horrible dream.

You might get old and might need to wear a catheter, but then it's past being president. Aside from

"Person, woman, man, camera, TV"

He’s wearing a leg bag for a urinary catheter….my Dad had one when he was dying.Dumb is OLD. He’ll be 80 this year…

Listeria outbreak surfaces after Trump's CDC cuts key program

A listeria outbreak tied to prepared food products has caused at least six deaths and more than 25 hospitalizations. The outbreak is occurring roughly four months after the Trump administration halted a program that monitored the food supply for problems like listeria.

Such amazing work in making America's health better!

The reviews are in: Trump’s revamp of the Kennedy Center is a flop

More than a month into the new season, tens of thousands of seats across the Kennedy Center’s three largest venues have gone unsold. Between Sept. 3 and Oct. 19, roughly 50,000 seats remained empty—about 43% of total capacity—according to an analysis from The Washington Post. A year ago, just 7% of tickets were left unsold during the same period. In 2023, it was 20%.

It gets worse, really, but not so shockingly, Trump and MAGA are utterly terrible at business involving the arts.

To poke at a quote - "Art is the window to man's soul." With souls like Trump and his Administrations' running the show, it's no wonder that they've tanked like that.

It's not even a casino. It never stood a chance.
