Trump's Second Term

Trump thinking Habeas Corpus is a person reminds me of the old joke about the head of production at MGM recommending to Louie B Mayer that MGM film "Quo Vadis " to have Mayer reply :OK, but who will play Quo?".
Trump;s ignorance in truly incredible. And the GOP leadership sees nothing wrong with it,
Once again, i see no peaceful end to this crisis.

Sad fact is Trump is winning as far perosnal power goes.
To me, the most troubling thing is how foreign goverments are now caving into and appeasing him, Appeasing a megalomanic never ever works.
The world in on the edge of disaster through pure cowardice. End of story.

How can we honor Trump with the Nobel Peace Prize without honoring Trump with the Nobel Peace Prize?
That never happened. He doesn't even know her name.
Trump: "The person who actually got the Nobel Prize called today, called me, and said 'I'm accepting this in honor of you, because you really deserved it.' A really nice thing to do. I didn't say 'Then give it to me, though.'"
Of course, it happened. That he doesn't know her name is immaterial.
Trump doesn't remember the names of anybody else, and he doesn't give a damn about them.
Dump is still trying to make the Nobel prize all about him. The cope he seems to have landed on is that the prize was awarded to Machado 'in his honour'. Will the cult start parroting this point?
Machado, who won the prize, has dedicated it to him!
She is a big Trump fan, and it couldn't be more in his honor than this!
What Nobel winner María Corina Machado Said About Donald Trump (Newsweek, Oct 10, 2025)
In various public statements, Machado has praised Trump's policies toward Venezuela, particularly his administration's efforts to isolate Madurodiplomatically and economically. She has acknowledged the impact of U.S. sanctions on the Venezuelan regime, but views them as a necessary measure to weaken Maduro's hold on power. Additionally, Machado has expressed appreciation for Trump's vocal support of the Venezuelan opposition on the international stage.
In an interview earlier this year, Machado stated: "I send my gratitude to President Trump. This is the correct thing to do, the right moment to do it, and I am sure that this will have consequences in the very short term and I am very sure that the Venezuelan people feel right now secured that we are not alone."
Fresh off Nobel Peace Prize Win, opposition leader María Corina Machado says Venezuela is counting on 'Trump more than ever' (New York Post, Oct 10, 2025)
"I totally support [Trump's] strategy. And I've said it on behalf of the Venezuelan people that we are very grateful. I think it is the right thing to do. It's courageous. It's visionary," she told the Times of London last month.

2025 Nobel Prize Winner Maria Corina Machado once wrote to Israeli war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu and asked him for help to overthrow Venezuela’s🇻🇪 President Nicolas Maduro
In 2025 you get a Nobel Prize for trying to convince a foreign genocidal apartheid state to attack your own country and overthrow its leadership, so that Washington can privatise the largest natural oil reserves on Earth

Venezuela’s🇻🇪 election loser Maria Corina Machado has won the Nobel Peace Prize:
‘If we win, we will move the Venezuelan embassy to Jerusalem to support Israel.’
Like many other US-backed Latin American politicians, her policies are copy & paste support for Israel, support for Washington’s neoliberalism, and servitude to US hegemony…So what has she actually done to win a Nobel Peace Prize?
With a short video (28 sec.) where Machado promises to move the Venezuelan embassy in Israel to Jerusalem to show support for Israel.
That Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize Committee sure knows how to pick'em!

Obviously a lie, because he would have.

This is a guy that managed to go broke running casinos. The basic innumeracy kind of explains it.

I mentioned that to a contractor at work, and his response was "I don't know how hard it is to run a casino, and you probably don't either, so I can't judge him."
Of course, I also had to explain to this guy that no, tariffs aren't bringing money into the US. We're the ones paying them. He seemed to think that there are also tariffs on exports, which are paid to the US by the foreign buyers.

Everybody knows this but nobody in the main stream media has the guts to say it out loud.
I think MSNBC has pointed this out a number of times, but people just are not listening is the problem.
BYW the idea the no one dares criticise Trump in the USA seems to be grossly exgarrted.

The reason Trump;s casino in Atlantic City went bankrupt is that Trump, against expert advice, opened in a flooded market. There were already more casinos in Atlantic City then the tourist trade could support. He apparently thought the mere name Trump and a lavish new casino would bring in customers. It did not.
He made a very stupid business decision , but then a lot of his business decisions were stupid.

He and Kristi Noem follow the Economic School of Thought of Habeas Corpus (whoever he is...) I mean Trump didn't even make the Dean's List at Wharton Business School but let's hear it for good old Habeas who promulgated the theory of prices dropping by 1,000%.

She (Sen Hassan) doesn't get the definition of habeas corpus correct either. It does not say that the government has to give a justification for detention, it is the right of ordinary people to go to court and challenge that detention and that courts have the authority to release those detained. From the Latin; 'have the body' As a consequence government may need to justify its act, but the essential right is that to challenge the detention and that courts (the judiciary) have authority over the executive. One can see this ties in very closely to the 1st amendment right that government will not pass any law etc. that limits the rights of people to protest, criticise, or bring petitions etc, against the government.

Go ahead and do it, coward. See how popular you will be permanently cutting essential services in the middle of your own GOP government shut-down.

The suddeness of it might make a difference, but here in the UK we had 14 years of essential services being cut to the bone and Tory voters were still 'Thank you Sir, May I have another', now they're preparing to re-elect tne worst and most incompetent of the literal same MPs along with a bunch of incompetent inexperienced racists and shameless grifters who are outright advocating more of the same because giving themselves a different name makes them the 'Alternative' to mainstream politics even when it's the same people.. You'll never go broke betting on the gullibility of an electorate.
