Trump's Second Term

In a sense, the fact that Hegseth refers to "climate change worship" says it all...

Absolutely. Why would the US Secretary of Defense War be talking about climate change at a gathering of generals and admirals?

What in the world is Hegseth even doing serving in that position? It's Alice in Wonderland, alright! :(

In case you ever wondered what happened to Trump loving murderer, Kyle Rittenhouse, he ended up here in my little town, working for an ultra MAGA Trump loving gun store with a giant electric sign out front advertising Trump, Rittenhouse himself, Trump, and how much the owner hates liberals, vaccines, and imagined socialism. Also Trump.I guess the Trump business model really paid off

(the store is closing, in Florida)

REPORTER: The HUD website blames 'radical Democrats' for the shutdown. Is that an appropriate use of taxpayer money, being overtly political?

MIKE JOHNSON: I think what the HUD website says is the objective truth

I got an email notice from the Veterans Administration about the shutdown yesterday. It praised trump and blamed Democrats. Below is a sample.
President Trump opposes a lapse in appropriations, and on September 19, the House of Representatives passed, with the Trump Administration’s support, a clean continuing resolution to fund the government through November 21. Unfortunately, Democrats are blocking this Continuing Resolution in the U.S. Senate due to unrelated policy demands.

I was both shocked and disgusted. It's like all of a sudden I live in a banana republic.

You wouldn't want a cripple fighting, no one armed one eyed sailors, no fighter pilots with tin legs.

I wasn't sure if that was true, but turns out that yes, it is...

From: https://weartv.com/news/local/gulf-...soon-owner-says-store-is-no-longer-profitable
Gulf Coast Gun & Outdoors in Milton is closing shop after approximately 10 years in business..."This place isn't profitable anymore," Smith said in his 12-minute video... Court records revealed that Smith was in default on a loan worth more than $500,000.... Smith hired gun rights figure Kyle Rittenhouse, who was featured in some of the business' social media videos.

I remember so many stories about Rittenhouse around the time of his trial... that there were offers from various congress-critters to take him on as an intern, that he was going to go to college, etc. None of that panned out for him.

I am surprised that none of the more insane republican wing-nuts (like Bobert aor MTG) haven't offered him a job. But I guess they figured his time had passed as a useful dog-and-pony show.

The entire GDP growth this year is coming from investment in AI infrastructure, nothing else.

A recent X post from the Harvard economist Jason Furman gives the worry more of a shape. He wrote:

Investment in information processing equipment & software is four per cent of GDP. But it was responsible for 92 per cent of GDP growth in the first half of this year. GDP excluding these categories grew at a 0.1 per cent annual rate in the first half.

In a sense, the fact that Hegseth refers to "climate change worship" says it all. In a blizzard of stupidities insanities and perversions, that single phrase stands out as an indication of just how crazy things have become. When I was a kid I found Alice in Wonderland unsettling because it was hard to separate fantasy from the "what if" of being in it. And here we are, being handed a bottle of drink me and playing croquet with the red queen. We're ◊◊◊◊◊◊, aren't we?
Yup. Long, hard, and dry.

By the way could Trump still be a Vice-President after his two terms as President? Could see him doing a Putin and "stepping down" until the constitution can be changed.
That would be unconstitutional. That said, if Vance ran on the slogan “I’ll be a puppet!” and Trump turned up for every rally, I’m not sure that there is much that could be done about it.

The USDA website homepage as of this morning. I worked for DOC for 14 years--never saw anything like this during several shutdowns.
And people are critical of us calling a spade a spade--this is fascist, plain and simple.
