Well you have been pretty vocal about how much you dislike non-Americans criticizing America, so this is nothing new. You also need to understand that in most cases the government is not the people. There have been very visible signs of protest including giant posters on Westminster lawns. Lets face it, the Starmer government is a disappointment, but then he focused on rebuilding an economy decimated by the Conservatives and if it means sucking up to Trump, he seems to be willing to take the risk.
 
I'm torn between wanting Trump as far away as possible rather than over here and marvelling at how Starmer seems to have latched onto how easy it is to appease Trump with shiny bling and flattery. If you can save your economy from a several percent hit just by putting up with an unwelcome jerk of a visitor for a few days, maybe that's worth swallowing your pride for.

The only problem as everyone knows - Trump doesn't stay bought - but if it stops us being treated punitively by the USA then Charles has to do his one and only job.

Hey, A lot of the so-called sensible Republicans in the US are willing to put up with him under the illusion that they have a stable democracy.

in the us i would consider a liberal a fiscal free market capitalist conservatives etc that are more socially progressive than conservatives but less than progressives. a centrist

so of course you could see how a former liberal that considers trans rights a bridge to far basically becomes a republican, which explains why there’s so many of them.

Well the term "left" seems to be a US conservative (White christian supremacist) term for any person or group they don't like or are uncomfortable with. Being empathetic or showing sympathy for the less fortunate is "left"

I get the sentiment but what are other countries supposed to do? What does anyone do when confronted by a chimpanzee with a loaded gun? Speak softly and try to get close enough to disarm it.

That's what the rest of the civilized world is forced to do thanks to America's disastrously stupid choice of leader. And they have every right, even an obligation, to criticize America and Americans loudly for what they have carelessly wrought on the rest of us.

I'm fully expecting all that fake gilding of the White House interior to eventually include a big chair so he can sit on a golden throne. Not talking about the gold toilets which I bet he has at least one of at his crappy McPalace in Florida.

Hmmm .. maybe Trump will shift his effort from trying to become a dictator into trying to become a monarch. Let's face it, Putin doesn't have a golden carriage. I will certainly look for any hint of posh English in his speech from now on ..
