I am not so sure Cromwell;s military dictatorship..and that is what it was....and the people of England are the same. Ihave a low opinion of Charles Ist, but even many who supported the Parlimanetaring cause did not favor his execution.
You know, revolutinares do not always reflect the actual opiniion of the people..as shocking as that is ot many on the left.

WASHINGTON, Sept 10 (Reuters) - U.S. right-wing activist and commentator Charlie Kirk, an influential ally of President Donald Trump, was fatally shot in the neck on Wednesday at an event at a Utah university, Trump said.

"The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us," Trump wrote on social media.

I have gottena lot of ridicule for my statments that what amounts to a second civil war is a strong possibility, but I am afraid I might have the last laugh on that.
It's simple, with the possibility of peaceful change thought the ballot box vanishing, people will resort to other methods.
And I can't say I will blame them, though I think that random killings like Charlie Kirk are useless.
