Trump's Second Term

I saw this lovely remark by Trump. which given his record with women makes total sense:

“I said, no, no, no. It’s more than 87%, virtually nothing. And much lesser things, things that take place in the home they call crime. You know, they’ll do anything they can to find something. If a man has a little fight with the wife, they say this was a crime. See? So now I can’t claim 100%, but we are. We are a safe city.”

So the Arcons on Reddit have decided in the past week:

1) Trumps letter was a hoax, even though it was released.
2) Clinton's letter is just as bad, even though it reads like the letter your mom made you write to grandma after X-mas to thank her for the present.
3) They have honestly proposed that it must be fake because no way the demented Trump they love could write a poem, forgetting that in the past he was still stupid but at least was coherent.
4) What letter? We know of no letter until Tucker Carlson tells us what to think.

That's a curious one. It looks like it would kill any chance of an initiative petition progressing. As well as a statewide majority, they want to require a district-by-district majority too. Giving every district a veto. If you combine that with gerrymandering to concentrate opposition votes in fewer districts it seems like no partisan petition could ever have a chance of going anywhere.

It's the sort of thing that makes me assume there must be some particular thing they're trying to frustrate with this but I have no idea what it might be.

Gas prices were up for a fourth straight week to their highest level in eleven weeks. As of September 8th, the price of regular and premium gas were each up 2 cents from the previous week. According to GasBuddy.com, California has the highest average price for regular at $4.61 and Mississippi has the cheapest at $2.70.

Currently, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline stands at $3.19 with premium gasoline averaging $4.12 per gallon. One year ago, regular gas was priced at $3.24 per gallon, while premium gas was at $4.15 per gallon.

That smarmy little SOB is being completely disingenuous here- he knows perfectly well that it's not crime reduction the Democrats object to, it's the "let the troops come in" part that's the problem, one he would certainly raise hell about if it were a Dem President suggesting the use of the military in a southern city. People who are trained to fight enemy combatants are not the best choice for enforcing law or policing the citizens of a US city, and he knows this, but it suits his partisan purpose to pretend otherwise, and to portray the Dems as the party opposed to an ostensibly perfect solution.

This is giving me a great idea. We signed up for a conference in Chicago ages ago and now we are not going (because who on earth wants to visit the US anymore?) so we've cancelled but they won't give us our deposit back.

Now I can use Trump's "Chipocalypse" meme to argue that we have a realistic fear for the safety of our employees travelling there. Probably won't work but I am going to try. There was a clause in the contract about refunds in the event of extreme circumstances like natural disasters or war. I think this qualifies.

Indeed. Well, if they are gerrymandering the state legislature, the party won't need to beet that hurdle, so they could block most petitions from the smaller party, however popular.
