Trumpelthinskin's Truth Social tirade:

“It’s incredible how the Fake News violently distorts the TRUTH when it comes to me,” he raged. “There is NOTHING I can say or do that would lead them to write or report honestly about me. I had a great meeting in Alaska on Biden’s stupid War, a war that should have never happened!!!”

In a second post, Trump added, “If I got Russia to give up Moscow as part of the Deal, the Fake News, and their PARTNER, the Radical Left Democrats, would say I made a terrible mistake and a very bad deal. That’s why they are the FAKE NEWS!”
His cultist supporters think this kind of toddler tirade is what a 'real, manly president' acts like.

Counterpoint: Trump's weird idiocy is consuming Putin's limited resources in constant inconsequential "negotiations".

The fact that Putin is flying to Alaska raises the question of who is stupider than who.

Meanwhile Ukraine and Europe continue to fight the good fight.

Aw bless. We've seen it play out on this very forum. With all the legitimate concerns, everyone still makes up bizarre nonsense. The press Trump doesn't like is every bit as dishonest as all the other press.
Not really. What they have in common is wanting the scoop. Just that some press are happy to scoop Trump manure.

Indeed. Frankly, it's reasonable to say that one shouldn't blindly trust any outlet. On the other hand, it's thoroughly unreasonable to say "The press Trump doesn't like is every bit as dishonest as all the other press." At that point it's willful blindness, though, given the large qualitative and quantitative differences in the dishonesty involved. Equating a business model that cares about truth, even when distorted to some extent by business concerns, with one that really doesn't care about truth and will happily fight against truth if it serves their purposes is some pretty nasty bothsiderism.

Can you walk me through your thinking? I don't see how it relates to Putin and Trump's relative intelligence.

Putin wants pointless negotiations and dragging out any deal as long as possible. He's using Trump's own tactics against him.

Welker plays Rubio a clip of him saying in 2022 that "you can't cut deals with guys" like Putin 😬

Yeah, I really don't know how this answer is going to play with Trump. Rubio doesn't sing the president's praises. He doesn't say "In this case, Putin can be trusted because he knows not to mess with Trump." Of course part of the interview may have gotten cut off but what I saw was Rubio independently making a case against pointless negotiations, on the heels of his boss's enthusiasm for pointless negotiations. One question I heard, why did we lay out the red carpet for Putin? I am curious if someone here has answers to how protocol typically goes in these events. Maybe they could have rolled out red butcher paper, it might have more significance.

How many times have we said 2020 was a rigged and stolen election?!
Even Vladimir Putin says it!! Georgia was one of the worst in 2020!!!

Vladimir Putin confirms that if Trump were President in 2022, there would be no war: "When President Trump says that if he was president back then there would be no war... I can confirm that. "

Laura Ingraham

Anyone saying that the Trump- Putin meeting was a failure is ignorant, biased or both. Dealing with the Russians, forging peace, requires strength, knowledge, respect and patience—and that’s what we saw from Donald Trump today. This was a step forward.

Putin stated publicly that it was Biden’s escalation in Ukraine that led to the war breaking out. Confirmed it wouldn’t have happened if Trump in office
OK I am super confused. Three separate people saying, welll, If Putin says it, it must be true! He's telling nothing but truth: Biden provocation started the war - says Putin. With President Trump there would have been no war - says Putin. The 2020 election was "rigged and stolen" - says Putin. And so it MUST BE TRUE. Why on Earth are they portraying Putin as an individual of great discernment, who can be trusted to tell Americans the truth?

While the secretary of state says, far more accurately and credibly, PUTIN IS A LIAR. Others have said, Russia is actively trying to sabotage us by spreading lies. Then they turn around and effectively say, Putin is telling the truth, this time. He's not just trying to stir **** up. Why the hell believe him about any of this? And how the hell would he "know" the 2020 election was rigged?

Think, monkeys, think!

The Alaska meeting, which concluded without the Ukraine ceasefire Trump had promised, represents the latest chapter in a troubling pattern: the 45th and 47th president’s persistent confusion of stagecraft for statecraft. Where Reagan walked away from Reykjavik rather than accept a bad deal, Trump seems perpetually seduced by the optics of the moment, the handshake photo, the joint press conference that suggests progress where none exists.”

494. Pence: “I served alongside the president for four years. I know his style in dealing with these dictators. It’s the velvet glove ... Putin only understands strength.”

492. Trump: “You know, I always had a great relationship with President Putin. And we would have done great things together in terms of, you know. Their land is incredible. The rare earth, the oil gas — it’s incredible. It is the largest piece of land in the world as a nation by far. I think they have 11 timezones if you can believe it, that’s big stuff. But we would have done a lot of great things we had the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax which stopped us from doing that. We would have done so great. But we have the greatest — one of the great hoaxes. I mean, there were others like the election itself and as you know, as you covered better than anyone. But it was a rigged election and a horrible thing that took place in 2020. But we would have had a great relationship but we did amazingly well considering — you know, he would look and see what happened, he would think we’re crazy with the made up Russia, Russia, Russia hoax. So we had something very important and we had a very good meeting today, but we’ll see. I mean it’s, you have to get a deal.”

493. Trump: “Vladimir Putin said something -- one of the most interesting things. He said ‘your election was rigged because you have mail in voting.’ He said, ‘mail in voting, every election -- no country has mail in voting. It’s impossible to have mail in voting and have honest elections.’ And he said that to me because we talked about 2020. He said, ‘you won that election by so much.’”

482. Trump: “The biggest issue right now is crime. Stopping crime in the cities, and the Democrats are fighting the stopping of crime. So I think that’s like men playing in women’s sports is okay, or transgender for everybody ... it’s rampant in our blue-run cities.”

487. Trump: “We cleared 12.4 million names listed in the social security database, over 120 years of age. Think of that. Is that right? That is a hell of a statement. I have a feeling that really did not happen.”

488. Trump: “We want the museums to talk about the history of our country in a fair manner, not in a woke manner or in a racist manner, which is what…many of them are doing,”

489. (Via Xitter) “I’m sick to my stomach. DC just out there throwing away the last little bit of possessions unhoused people had. I saw beds, tables, clothing, shoes…all kinds of items being bulldozed and thrown into garbage trucks. Some may have had photos, letters, mementos lost forever. 466. Trump: “We are going to do something and it’s going to serve for a beacon for New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and other places all over the country. Our whole country is going to be so different and so great. It’s going to be clean and safe and beautiful. People are going to love our flag more than they’ve ever loved it.”

470. Trump: “We have great contractors here. Great road builders. We’re not ripping roads apart so they’re closed for 4 years as they do the concrete bases and you don’t need that. We need a beautiful topping by a very talented asphalt-type person.”

471. Trump: “You’re gonna see a big change in Washington crime stats very soon. Not the stats that they gave, because they turned out to be a total fraud. The real stats. The stats went through the roof. They had a man that was forced to put out stats like they were doing better. They’re not doing better. Crime is the worst it’s ever been.”

472. Trump: “Washington, D.C., has one of the Highest Rates of Crime in the World, more than many of the most violent Third World Countries. The City’s Homicide Rate is higher than places notorious for their violence, such as Mexico City, Bogota, Islamabad, and Addis Ababa Almost ten times higher than Fallujah, Iraq. If D.C. were a State, it would have the highest Homicide Rate of any State in America. The Violent Crime Rate in D.C. has worsened, and the Murder Rate has essentially DOUBLED in just over a decade But these are only the “official” statistics released by corrupt City Officials. The REAL numbers are many times worse. In fact, a Precinct Commander was just suspended for allegedly manipulating the Violent Crime Statistics, and the D.C. Police Union, likewise, says the real numbers are much higher. Because the Democrat Government of D.C. has largely stopped investigating, arresting, and prosecuting most Crime, the published statistics don’t even capture a fraction of the actual Violence. No one is arrested for shoplifting. Citizens living in fear have largely given up on calling the Police, instead choosing not to walk the streets after dark, essentially becoming captive prisoners in their own City. Stores lock up their merchandise behind glass walls. Gang Youth Violence is so common it goes largely unreported. Vehicle Theft in D.C. is more than three times the National Average. Schools are completely dysfunctional. Citizens are afraid to speak up or, call the Police, lest they be targeted. The REAL Crime Rates are probably five to ten times what has been reported. D.C. has been under siege from thugs and killers, but now, D.C. is back under Federal Control where it belongs. The White House is in charge. The Military and our Great Police will liberate this City, scrape away the filth, and make it safe, clean, habitable and beautiful once more!”

473. Trump: “You know, grass has a lifetime like people have a lifetime, and the lifetime of this grass has long been gone. When you look at the parks where the grass is all tired, exhausted. We’re going to redo the grass with the finest grasses. I know a lot about grass.”

474. Brewster: “The schools have to start disciplining kids. They took the paddle out of the school and everything collapsed. We have to get the paddle back.”

475. Trump: “They decide to build a basement under the building in the Potomac River. So in order to do that, you need the biggest pumps that God ever created. And they were pumping their hearts out, but as big as those pumps are, you can’t pump it fast enough because it’s the Potomac River. If the pump were bigger than this room, you couldn’t pump it, but they tried.”

476. Trump: “Bondi is incredible and you will see a big change in Washington crime stats soon. Not the stats they gave. They turned out to be a total fraud. The real stats… You see a big change and people are feeling safe already. I have had so many calls thank you, sir, thank you. They were afraid to walk out. They aren’t afraid anymore.”

477. Trump: “Since 1978 the Kennedy Center honors have been amongst the most prestigious awards. I wanted one, never able to get one. I would have taken it. I waited and waited and waited and I said to hell with it, I’ll become chairman. I will give myself an honor. Next year we’ll honor trump, okay?”

478. Miller: “The Smithsonian is supposed to be a global symbol of American strength, culture and prestige. A place for families and children to celebrate American history and greatness. Instead, the exhibits have clearly been taken over by leftwing activists who have used the Smithsonian as yet one platform to endlessly bash America and rewrite / erase our magnificent story. These activists have obscenely defaced this beloved institution. The Trump Administration will proudly and diligently restore the patriotic glory of America and ensure the Smithsonian is a place that once more inspires love and devotion to this nation, especially among our youngest citizens.”

479. Comer: “We’re gonna support doing this in other cities if it works out in Washington DC. We spend a lot on our military. Our military has been in many countries around the world for the past two decades walking the streets trying to reduce crime. We need to focus on the big cities in America now, and that’s what the president is doing. I think this is an experiment that’s probably needed in a lot of the Democrat-run cities in America.”

480. Navarro: “Are tariffs price hikes or tax cuts? I say they’re tax cuts”
Eisen: “I mean, many economists would say they are tax hikes because ultimately a consumer will pay for some of those increased prices.”
Navarro: “Most economists just don’t agree with us. Who has credibility here?”

It has been proven, that even at this late stage, Tariffs have not caused Inflation, or any other problems for Country, other than massive amounts of CASH pouring into our Treasury’s coffers. Also, it has been shown that, for the most part, Consumers aren’t even paying these Tariffs, it is mostly Companies and Governments, many of them Foreign, picking up the tabs. But David Solomon and Goldman Sachs refuse to give credit where credit is due. They made a bad prediction a long time ago on both the Market repercussion and the Tariffs themselves, and they were wrong, just like they are wrong about so much else. If I got Moscow and Leningrad free, as part of the deal with Russia, the Fake News would say that I made a bad deal! But now they’ve been caught. If they were going to rule against the wealth, strength, and power of America, they should have done so LONG AGO, at the beginning of the case, where our entire Country, while never having a chance at this kind of GREATNESS again, would not have been put in 1929 style jeopardy. There is no way America could recover from such a judicial tragedy, but I know our Court System better than anyone, there is no one in history that has gone through the trials, tribulations and uncertainties such as I, and absolutely terrible, but also amazingly beautiful, things can happened. Our Country deserves SUCCESS AND GREATNESS, NOT TURMOIL, FAILURE, AND DISGRACE. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

448. Reporter: “Will Zelenskyy have to give up territory?”
Trump: “So we are looking at that but we are actually looking to get some back. And some swapping. It is complicated. It is very complicated. We will get some back, and we will get some switched. There will be some swapping of territories to the betterment of both. But we will be talking about that either later tomorrow or whatever.”

If Trump and EmptyG say it's true because Putin said it, (a) it's a lie, and (b) they are Russian disinfo agents.

Counterpoint: Trump's weird idiocy is consuming Putin's limited resources in constant inconsequential "negotiations".

The fact that Putin is flying to Alaska raises the question of who is stupider than who.
Meanwhile Ukraine and Europe continue to fight the good fight.
Can you walk me through your thinking? I don't see how it relates to Putin and Trump's relative intelligence.
The real question is how anyone could still think the question of which is stupider could still be a real question.

@theprestige might be pointing out that each of Putin's flights took about two hours longer than Trump's flights, so this summit wasted more of Putin's time than Trump's. That might well be the most convincing way to spin this summit as a win for Trump.
Putin wants pointless negotiations and dragging out any deal as long as possible. He's using Trump's own tactics against him.

Wow, that's quite the take.

The pundits I have read seem to agree that being feted by Trump helps to bolster Putin's position at home and with countries in Africa and Asia where Russia continues to wield influence.
