Epstein was still alive in 2016. He died suspiciously in 2019 while Trump was President, of course, which honestly should have pinned more eyes on Trump, especially the CTist eyes that the far right works to manufacture en masse. To hazard a guess for why this is happening now? This bout was likely triggered by Musk very plausibly claiming that Trump was in the Epstein Files and THAT was why they weren't being released and the topic just didn't die. So, naturally, the Trump Administration tried to protect Trump by claiming that the Epstein files didn't exist in a more official statement, nevermind that it completely contradicted previous (recent) statements, and then it blew up in their faces.

And Ms Maxwell had not yet been tried. A lot came out with that. And, two excellent female investigative reporters looked into the victims, one of whom committed suicide not too long ago. And Michael Wolff, a Trump biographer, has hours of tapes plus he said he's seen some of the photos the DoJ claims don't exist and he says they show Trump with some of Epstein's 'young' girls.

Because this is not about Trump being a pervert or pedophile. HIs supporters already knew that. This is about Trump promising to destroy government and the elite. That is why he promised to release the 'list'--because it would tear down the Clintons and everyone else who was part of the cabal of elite deep state. No he has turned his back on that and is protecting the very thing he claimed he would tear down. His CT base does not like that.
 
the Epstein Files are just the newest version of Pizzagate for the ideological-right-wing: the one thing they need to be real to have something, anything, to feel morally superior to liberals about. America Conservatism cannot exist in the absence of constant moral outrage.

if Trump takes Epstein away from them, he needs to give him something to replace it.

I really wish people would stop using "pet" names for people. It took me a while to figure out that BiBi is Benjamin Netanyahu. There's only one "i" in his relatively long name, and it's near the end of the first word.

That goes for Trump, too. His name is Donald Trump, not Drumpf or the Orange Baboon or any one of a bunch of other insulting names people have for him.

I'm already suppressing posts from one member because I had too much trouble figuring out who he was referring to.

I expect a lot of MAGA fans are way more invested in the Epstein Files than Trump realized.

For them, it is like Area 51. Inside is whatever they imagine. And they imagine a LOT. They have probably spent many years exasperatedly telling family gatherings at Thanksgiving Day about how Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, George Soros and Ehud Olmert had spent many a day engaged in all kinds of horrific activities... while family members were rushing their kids out of the room because Uncle Frank was having a normal one again.

And now, six months after Trump was re-elected and put a dream team of people just as loony .... errr... interested in the truth as Uncle Frank in key places such as the FBI, they were going to find out once and for all what was in those files. That will show those doubters who rolled their eyes at him.

And now... now... Trump has told him to shut up and stop going on about the... hoax?!?
 
but it's different than area 51. epstein actually was a huge pedophile sex trafficker. and trump has a public history of being a sexual abuser and stating his attraction for underage girls.

the "list" is a bit of a red herring, in that he may not have physically had a list of names he pedophiled with. but he definitely did traffic underage girls to other men and record them, and there's a bunch of evidence of who these guys were imo

Sorry to be a bit pedantic but 'Benjamin' is his anglicised name. He actually is 'Binyamin' so the Bibi cutesy name is from the firdt 2 letters of his name. I too find it a bit nauseating when he's referred as 'Bibi' - but it is what it is.
 
The hoax according to Donald seems to be that the files that do exist are all faked by Obama and the evil Democrats to attack Donald.

I find it particularly clever how they planned it years ahead, and successfully made Trump and the MAGA movement think that the files were full of Democrats.

You're overthinking it. The word 'Hoax' doesn't mean the same when he uses it as it does in a dictionary, it's a magic 'make the problem go away' word like his 'insults' are for people, They don't have to mean anything or relate to what or who they're applied to, he just keeps repeating them until the problem.. goes away.

This was in answer to a question about Epstein, so maybe that is reason enough to start telling a made-up story about his uncle, the genus and the Unabomber. (Epstein was never a big factor in terms of life, Trump now says, btw. I am not sure if that is true or false, since I have no idea what it means.)

It's amazing that two people can be so closely related and yet so disparate. You have to wonder how Fred's venal branch of the family got on with John.

I couldn’t say much then—and I still can’t. As part of the resolution, we’re required to keep the nature of the action confidential for one year.
But here’s what I can say now: The DOJ has backed off. They’ve withdrawn. We stood our ground, and we won.

This victory didn’t happen by accident. We didn’t cozy up to Trump for special treatment. We didn’t flinch. And most importantly, you didn’t flinch either.
