Trump's Second Term

According to a column at MSNBC by culture critic Rebecca Ritzel, the president has been proposing a slate of plays, including "Cats," Camelot,” “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Hello, Dolly!” seemingly unaware that there are no touring companies presenting those plays from bygone days.
23 Skidoo!!

I have a great idea for a show that could play the Kennedy Center. It's a ventriloquist show starring Elon Schmuck and Herr Schitler. Schmuck puts his hand up Schitler's ass and makes him spew nonsense. It's based on the daily White House routine.

Trump's war on foreigners. Tourists, bring along a good, long book to read. You may spend some time in solitary.

Mexico is a wonderful and beautiful country that Lucas and I love to visit,” Tyler said.
They returned on February 18, just 22 days into Sielaff's 90-day tourist permit.
When they pulled up to the crossing, the US border agent asked Sielaff aggressively, “Where are you going? Where do you live?” Tyler said.
“English is not Lucas' first language and so he said, ‘We’re going to Las Vegas,' and the agent says, ’Oh, we caught you. You live in Las Vegas. You can't do that,'" Tyler said.

Trump on Tesla vandals: "I view these as terrorists.. when I look at those showrooms burning.. nothing like that happened on Jan 6th.. nobody was killed other than a very beautiful young woman, Ashli.. nobody was killed."

It's my impression that the BBC is showing less and less of Trump's delirious droolings. Maybe the Beeb is protecting our sanity?

Why not?

Targeted property damage in protest is pretty much what started the path to independence of the US.
Or was the Boston Tea Party an act of terrorism?
I'm not convinced the Boston Tea Party is comparable, and not just because things have changed in two hundred years. The tea tax was a specific issue. The Tesla is symbolic. I certainly hate Musk and would not want to buy a Tesla. But targeted property damage of this sort is likely to have a contrary effect, and risks collateral damage that is not acceptable, such as accidentally killing someone or burning more than you intended, and though it might constitute a public gesture, its harm to Musk is essentially nil.

Mind you, I also agree with Stacy that comparing this to the actual terrorism, treason and personal injury of the Capitol riots is stupid, excessive and wrong, and of course that did result in one death, of a terrorist not a heroine. But realizing that something is not as bad does not make it good.

She makes Sean Spicer (remember him?) look like a genius. But she's Trump's type.
Yet very few of his current crop of sycophants are holdovers from his previous administration. Some are described as longtime allies but they weren't highly visible before (to me - but I have to ration my news
consumption somewhat). I don't understand why so many people fall away and why there are always fresh faces. There's somewhat of honeymoon period going on, and maybe it will last. Maybe he has built a permanent inner circle of "Stepford wives." But if history rhymes there will be more spats and purges ahead. I probably won't follow that too closely either because trying to read the tea leaves makes me insane.

I looked up a few things and just noticed TV networks are still calling Twitter, Twitter. It makes me smile but I really wonder about that choice. (On the other hand I just watched a clip of Kellyanne Conway from 2024 and she called it Twitter too!)

ETA: Edited because I think I posted an incomplete version of this.

BTW: I do appreciate links and often follow links but I hate being directed to Twitter. Often I can't even figure out how navigate the content without being sucked into a cesspool.

ETA: There are a lot of posts I appreciate but I hardly ever use the "like" button. Maybe that will change but for now I have reservations.about that feature.

Revolution can be messy...

Nobody was killed in the showrooms that were burned, either, you !!!!!!! moron.
All this talk of people being killed in their Teslas and killed at showrooms is meant to manifest in the minds of his moron followers the idea that people have been killed, without ever having to say it. A viewer might think they missed the news about somebody being killed and then agree with with all this 'terrorist' and 'death penalty' rhetoric. He may be a moron in some regards, but he's a very cunning liar and what he's doing is very effective.
