Trump's Second Term

(I shortened it a bit)
the president does not follow court orders anymore
I think I do not have the same level of optimism that Robert Reich does.

When Labour fails (and it will fail) we've got a version of this coming in the UK: the ultra-wealthy getting wealthier and distracting the ever less wealthy voters with scapegoats such as immigrants and welfare scroungers.

At some point the Monopoly board is going to be flipped by a natural disaster, global-scale war, devastating pandemic or a combination of all three.

Maybe next time we'll get it right.

Which, of course is a wonderful excuse to sit back and do nothing.\ since nothing can be done.

By Trump era standards, Rubio is illegally here. His parents were illegal aliens.
Too late to deport Rubio's parents: Neither of Rubio's parents were U.S. citizens at the time of Rubio's birth.

And they can do this, because it does not go to regular courts. You have broken immigration law.
CNN
Washington — Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Sunday that Mahmoud Khalil, an activist who is being detained by federal immigration authorities, is "going to leave — and so are others."

"We're going to keep doing it," Rubio said on "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan."

Mahmoud Khalil, a 30-year-old who was born in Syria to Palestinian parents, served as a negotiator on behalf of students during Columbia University's 2024 student encampment protests

I thought he was the president who would stop the “forever wars”. And he thinks he should have Nobel’s Peace Prize.
No how many wars Trump starts, he will not call any of them "wars"--they will be "special military operations" in honor of his bud Putin.

Unless, of course, there's nobody to enforce the law.
Power is now divided between Elon Musk, and Elon Musk's toddler, and the crickets buzzing around inside Dump's head. Since the person giving the orders (Elonia) and the person actually deciding what EOs to sign (King Dump) are two different people, checks and balances remain intact.
At least until Elonia's toddler decides to impeach Drumpf. Make-believe hillbilly Vance will then become POTUS, and the whole structure will be upended once again.

I feared what Trump would do if elected again would be bad. I was wrong: his actions have been beyond bad. They're insane. This is what happens when a nutcase is give power and supported by cowards and fools. MAGA hates the comparisons of Trump to Hitler, Mussolini and other autocratic fascists because, deep down, they know it's true and they're part of it.

I'm genuinely curious as to what percentage actually hate the comparison. It's a disturbingly open question to me.

Actually, the US declared war on Japan on Dec. 8, 1941 and war on Germany and Italy on Dec. 11, 1941.
No. Following Pearl Harbour -

Declaration of War:
The following day, December 8, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed Congress, calling for a declaration of war against Japan, which was passed overwhelmingly.

  • Axis Powers Declare War:
Germany and Italy, Japan's allies, responded by declaring war on the United States on December 11, 1941.

  • Full Engagement:
With the declaration of war against Germany and Italy, the United States became fully engaged in World War II, mobilizing its resources and manpower for the war effort.

Actually, Germany and Italy declared war on the US first..a great favor for FDR, who was concerned about, even ater Pearl harbor, selling many in the uS on the necessity of fighinG Germany and Italy.
I was ninja's by Glenn, I see.
Declaring war on the US is considred one of Htiler biggest mistakes.

Regarding the Khalil case FIRE wrote, "The administration is wielding this standard — deportation for people whose activities could cause “serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States” — to arrest and detain an individual graduate student. In explaining how he met this standard, the administration did not allege Khalil committed a crime. But it did explicitly cite the content of his speech, characterizing it as “anti-American” and “pro-Hamas.” Protesting government policy is protected by the First Amendment, as is rhetorical support for a terrorist group (if not directly coordinated with it, which the government has not alleged here)."

it's funny when that press secretary says they couldn't think of a better guest to have for st. patrick's day than phony ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ and disgrace conor mcgregor.

I'm so surprised that Leavitt is going to skip the Whitehouse Correspondence Dinner. I'm sure she doesn't want to be roasted with truth bombs, so it tracks. I'm sure Trump won't be there either. I hope no one is arrested there for exercising free speech and press.

I stand corrected. I just remembered FDR declaring war on Japan before declaring war on Germany. And the US and Germany/Italy declared war each other on the same day later.

I don't think many of them like the comparison which is why they openly fight it. The trouble is, I think most MAGA don't really understand what fascism actually is which is why they lump it in with socialism and communism. Let's face it, most people have an abysmal understanding of history.

Why do firefighters need classes to teach them how to do their job anyway, they can just ask Drumpf!
